97. I decided to now (in June 30 AD 2023) leave Mars behind and instead contemplate the cycle of Venus. At the beginning of this planetary excursion I was out looking for the day when Venus suddenly would disappear from the evening sky, and when 8 days later she would return as Morning Star.
Since then the evenings have become much too eluminated even for the Sun light reflected from the bright face of Venus to be perceived. I live too far in the north for that to be possible. According to Cartes du Ciel the planet Venus should have been visible in the Pisces constellation in the evening of March 17 AD 2023 - i.e. as Evening Star:
And now, when I have become somewhat more accustomed to use Cartes du Ciel as a working tool, I have created a more detailed map of this region of the evening sky, viz. at 21h → midnight: See below. ... Allen has documented all his star culminations at 21h, which could be due to an effort of keeping the culminations at their proper places according to the ancients, 24h (spring equinox) - 21h = 3h = 24h / 8 = 45º. 3h corresponds to 366 / 8 = 45.75 of my right ascension days and *366 - *46 = *320 (Dramasa, σ Octantis) ...
Here (in March 17 AD 2023) we can see Venus (blue) between 32 (ν) Arietis and o Piscium (110, Torcularis Septentrionalis):
But ν Arietis - like a 'cobra in repose' -
is not at the same right ascension day as o (110) Piscium, so we have yet to discover the exact day position of Venus:
However, we have previously derived the right ascension day for o Piscium to be *20, because we found that in AD 2023 the planet Mars should be positioned close to this star in June 6 (half a year away from November 6, 310). In the G text this place had been designed to be at glyph number 320 + 1 and depicted as hau tea reversed ('in repose'): ... The Sacred Book of the ancient Maya Quiche, the famous Popol Vuh (the Book of Counsel) tells of Zipacna, son of Vucub-Caquix (= Seven Arata). He sees 400 youths dragging a huge log that they want as a ridgepole for their house. Zipacna alone carries the tree without effort to the spot where a hole has been dug for the post to support the ridgepole. The youths, jealous and afraid, try to kill Zipacna by crushing him in the hole, but he escapes and brings down the house on their heads. They are removed to the sky, in a 'group', and the Pleiades are called after them ... ... About Carmenta we know from the historian Dionysus Periergetis that she gave orcales to Hercules and lived to the age of 110 years. 110 was a canonical number, the ideal age which every Egyptian wished to reach and the age at which, for example, the patriarch Joseph died. The 110 years were made up of twenty-two Etruscan lustra of five years each; and 110 years composed the 'cycle' taken over from the Etruscans by the Romans. At the end of each cycle they corrected irregularities in the solar calendar by intercalation and held Secular Games. The secret sense of 22 - sacred numbers were never chosen haphazardly - is that it is the measure of the circumference of the circle when the diameter is 7. This proportion, now known as pi, is no longer a religious secret; and is used today only as a rule-of-thumb formula, the real mathematical value of pi being a decimal figure which nobody has yet been able work out because it goes on without ever ending, as 22 / 7 does, in a neat recurring sequence [3.142857142857 ...]. Seven lustra add up to thirty-five years, and thirty-five at Rome was the age at which a man was held to reach his prime and might be elected Consul. (The same age was fixed upon by a Classically-minded Convention as the earliest at which an American might be elected President of the United States.) ...
At the same place in timespace, half a year away from the Knee of Cassiopeia, the Full Moon should ideally be at the Fox: ... Proclus informs us that the fox star nibbles continuously at the thong of the yoke which holds together heaven and earth; German folklore adds that when the fox succeeds, the world will come to its end. This fox star is no other than Alcor, the small star g near zeta Ursae Majoris (in India Arundati, the common wife of the Seven Rishis, alpha-eta Ursae ...
So in March 17 AD 2023 there could not have been a lot of right ascension days betwen Venus and the line between Ksora in Cassiopeia and Torcularis Septentrionalis in Pisces. According to my star list ν Arietis should be at *39.5, which will correspond to *38.5 (→ 80 + 38 = 118 = 4 * 29½) in my assumed era for rongorongo. So Venus ought to be positioned in the interval *20 < Venus < *38 (→ TERMINALIA), between April 10 (100) and 118 (April 28). But by changing from March 17 to March 8 (31 + 28 + 8 = 67) we can find Venus at the star ζ Piscium - better known as Revati (*16):
... I do want it, said the maiden. Very well. Stretch out your right hand here, so I can see it, said the bone. Yes, said the maiden. She stretched out her right hand, up there in front of the bone. And then the bone spit out its saliva, which landed squarely in the hand of the maiden. And then she looked in her hand, she inspected it right away, but the bone's saliva wasn't in her hand. It is just a sign I have given you, my saliva, my spittle. This, my head, has nothing on it - just bone, nothing of meat. It's just the same with the head of a great lord: it's just the flesh that makes his face look good. And when he dies, people get frightened by his bones. After that, his son is like his saliva, his spittle, in his being, whether it be the son of a lord or the son of a craftsman, an orator. The father does not disappear, but goes on being fulfilled. Neither dimmed nor destroyed is the face of a lord, a warrior, craftsman, an orator. Rather, he will leave his daughters and sons. So it is that I have done likewise through you. Now go up there on the face of the earth; you will not die. Keep the word. So be it, said the head of One and Seven Hunaphu - they were of one mind when they did it ...
... Though Andromeda has its roots most firmly in the Greek tradition, a female figure in Andromeda's place appeared in Babylonian astronomy. The stars that make up Pisces and the middle portion of modern Andromeda formed a constellation representing a fertility goddess, sometimes named as Anunitum or the Lady of the Heavens ...
