The woman weaving at a loom in the moon
certainly corresponds to Hina
beating tapa. Peoples in Asia, Polynesia and Mesoamerica do
agree on this cloth-fabrication in the
moon.
To make cloth is defined as woman's work. But why in the moon? The rabbit - on the other hand - presents no mystery. I can see it. Are all rabbits bunnies? Screen-fold books remind me about my conviction that 'week' means 'folded'. I had already before reading the text just cited from 'The Maya' arrived at the conclusion that the structure of the weekly calendar in Large Santiago indicates a fold in Wednesday. I got the idea to search for such a pattern when reading Diringer's book. Numbers are worth investigating further, though we will probably not arrive at conclusive evidence just by doing that.
