In the German language Wednesday is 'Mittwoch', i.e. 'Middle of the Week'.
Wednesday represents a turningpoint in the week and there are three days before and three days after. Consequently it is a day more close to the 'unnatural' world than the other six days (which can be seen as more under the reign of the 'solar' world, i.e. the world of order and predictability and common sense).
Wednesday is like a fold in the fabric of the week. ('Fabric' means man-made.) The Swedish word 'vik' (as in Viking) means a gulf or rather 'fold' in the coast (perfect for attacking). The same idea as in weak / week. The soft spot in the fabric of the week is Wednesday. |
