... About Carmenta we know from the historian Dionysus Periergetis that she gave orcales to Hercules and lived to the age of 110 years. 110 was a canonical number, the ideal age which every Egyptian wished to reach and the age at which, for example, the patriarch Joseph died. The 110 years were made up of twenty-two Etruscan lustra of five years each; and 110 years composed the 'cycle' taken over from the Etruscans by the Romans. At the end of each cycle they corrected irregularities in the solar calendar by intercalation and held Secular Games. The secret sense of 22 - sacred numbers were never chosen haphazardly - is that it is the measure of the circumference of the circle when the diameter is 7. This proportion, now known as pi, is no longer a religious secret; and is used today only as a rule-of-thumb formula, the real mathematical value of pi being a decimal figure which nobody has yet been able work out because it goes on without ever ending, as 22 / 7 does, in a neat recurring sequence [3.142857142857 ...]. Seven lustra add up to thirty-five years, and thirty-five at Rome was the age at which a man was held to reach his prime and might be elected Consul. (The same age was fixed upon by a Classically-minded Convention as the earliest at which an American might be elected President of the United States.) ... And this was due to how January 1 was 11 days after December 21 (winter solstice). We have traced the pair Mars (→ March) and Venus (→ Friday) to the constellation of the Pair of Fishes. :
We can see from the Mesopotamian star map above that η Andromedae and η Pisces together could have defined the place for a kind of 'crossed sticks' at χ Pisces at the time when Sirrah ideally would have returned to visibility.
... The old man gave the Raven two small sticks, like gambling sticks, one black, one multicoloured. He gave him instructions to bite them apart in a certain way and told him to spit the pieces at one another on the surface of the sea. The Raven climbed back up the pole, where he promptly did things backwards, just to see if something interesting would occur, and the pieces bounced apart. It may well be some bits were lost. But when he gathered what he could and tried again - and this time followed the instructions he had been given - the pieces stuck and rumpled and grew to become the mainland and Haida Gwaii ... Neither ψ nor χ Piscium are in my star list. But we can use Cartes du Ciel to find η Andromedae, and from there infer where the quartet of stars in the middle between Andromeda and Pisces (χ and ψ¹, ψ², ψ³) could have been located:
... Al Maisān, the title of γ Geminorum [Alhena], by some error of Firuzabadi was applied to this star [Heka in Orion] as Meissa, and is now common for it. Al Sufi called it Al Tahāyī; but Al Ferghani and Al Tizini knew it as Rās al Jauzah, the Head of the Jauzah, which it marks. The original Arabic name, Al Hak'ah, a White Spot, was from the added faint light of the smaller φ¹ and φ² in the background, and has descended to us as Heka and Hika. These three stars were another of the Athāfiyy [tripods used for cooking] of the Arabs; and everywhere in early astrology were thought, like all similar groups, to be of unfortunate influence in human affairs. They constituted the Euphratean lunar station Mas-tab-ba-tur-tur, the Little Twins, a title also found for γ [Alhena] and η Geminorum [Tejat Prior]; and individually were important stars among the Babylonians, rising to them with the sun at the summer solstice, and, with α and γ, were known as Kakkab Sar, the Constellation of the King ...
The gods were like birds (i.e. they were high up and out of reach) but when they came down to earth and walked around here, they would leave their footprints (chicken feet) in the moist sand on the beach. ... Wikipedia: In writing, the early letter appears in an angular shape (). There were early graphical variants that omitted the stem, 'chickenfoot-shaped psi', as: or ... ... Here, in a very condensed form, is a typical Fijian myth of the origin of the current ruling clan (mataqali): A handsome, fair-skinned stranger, victim of an accident at sea, is befriended by a shark who carries him ashore on the south coast of Viti Levu. The stranger wanders into the interior where he is taken in by a local chieftain, whose daughter he eventually marries. From this union springs the line of Noikoro ruling chiefs, the narrator of the story being the tenth descendant on that line. He and his clansmen are called 'The Sharks' (Na Qio) ... It is all as in the Hawaiian proverb: 'A chief is a shark that travels on land' ... South of the equator, where winter and summer were 'upside down', some of the gods may have been like fishes in the night (when the birds were sleeping): ... The principal word for 'fish' in most Dravidian languages is min, which has an ancient homophone meaning 'star', both probably derivatives of the root min 'to glitter' ... Fish are actually unable to close their eyes, and the fact that 'when the fish sleeps it does not close its eyes' was noticed by ancient Indians. The dot-in-a-circle similar to that occuring among the trefoils of the Harappan priest-king's robe is identical with the eye of the many small hare- and fish-shaped amulets discovered on the lower levels of Harappa ...
... Now birds and fishes are born under the sign of the Yin, but they belong to the Yang. This is why birds and fishes both lay eggs. Fishes swim in the waters, birds fly among the clouds. But in winter, the swallows and starlings go down into the sea and change into mussels ...
In my old astronomy book we can see that χ Piscium ought to be practically at the same right ascension line as τ Piscium (Anunitum) - cfr Gb3-27 above.
The elbow of Andromeda (ζ Revati, *8.9) was connected with the back side (tua) of the Northen Fish (η Piscium, *11.4)
And as if by chance ζ Andromedae (*8.9) is precisely *8.0 right ascension days earlier than ζ Piscium (*16.9).
... Proclus informs us that the fox star nibbles continuously at the thong of the yoke which holds together heaven and earth; German folklore adds that when the fox succeeds, the world will come to its end. This fox star is no other than Alcor, the small star g near zeta Ursae Majoris (in India Arundati, the common wife of the Seven Rishis, alpha-eta Ursae ... In my old astonomy book Alcor is denoted as 80 Ursae Majoris.
