On the G tablet, which at the beginning of its side a evidently carries glyphs referring to the heliacal places as they were at the time of the Golden Age of the Bull, we have found some evidence of a correlation with the text in Manuscript E regarding the stolen water yam roots (uhi) from Ma'eha. I think they were growing in the region of 'Water' beginning in the month of February and preceding the successive lines of 'Fire' (0h) - like those red lines produced by the Cat o' nine tails wielded by originally Castor and later by his successors such as Marcus Antonius.... This [σ Sagittarii] has been identified with Nunki of the Euphratean Tablet of the Thirty Stars, the Star of the Proclamation of the Sea, this Sea being the quarter occupied by Aquarius, Capricornus, Delphinus, Pisces, and Pisces Australis. It is the same space in the sky that Aratos designated as Water ...
... It traditionally has nine thongs as a result of the manner in which rope is plaited. Thinner rope is made from three strands of yarn plaited together, and thicker rope from three strands of thinner rope plaited together. To make a cat o' nine tails, a rope is unravelled into three small ropes, each of which is unravelled again ... Variations exist, either named cat (of x tails) or not, such as the whip used on adult Egyptian prisoners which had a cord on a cudgel branching into seven tails, each with six knots, used only on adult men, with boys being subject to caning, until Egypt banned the use of the device in 2001. Sometimes the term 'cat' is used incorrectly to describe various other punitive flogging devices with multiple tails in any number, even one made from 80 twigs (so rather a limp birch) to flog a drunk or other offender instead of 80 lashes normally applicable under shariah law. The closed cat, one without tails, was called a starter ... The star Nunki could nowadays be seen at the Full Moon in early July but in the Golden Age of the Bull its corresponding place had been in early May. The Sun conjunction with Nunki was in January 3 (respectively in OCTOBER 31). 368 (Jan 3) - 64 = 304 (OCT 31). In a way these numbers were the same because the precession had moved the cardinal points of the Sun earlier with around 64 days since the time of the Bull. 304 (OCT 31) + 64 = 368 (Jan 3). ... So the culmination of Betelgeuze in January 29 was associated with water in front, and likewise was Nunki who would become visible 4 days earlier in day *288 (January 3) + *16 = *304 (January 25) ...
In the list of roots we can see a pair of empty places ('eye socket holes') in the enumeration, viz. at Adhil and Mira. The explanation seems to be that the major cardinal stars demanded it. From Gb8-8 (→ 64) and heliacal Bharani in May 1 (121 = *41 → 80 - 39) to the empty glyph place (zero) at the beginning of side a of the G tablet there were 64 - 41 = 23 right ascension days. Since the time of Taurus the place at 0h (day 80) had been moved 64 right ascension day places ahead in the solar year calendar due to the precession and then an addition with 16 days had to be made in order to adjust for the earlier method of waiting for the return to visibility of the relevant star. 64 + 16 = 80 (= 445 - 365 = March 21 - December 31).
Moving ahead in the rongorongo texts means going back in time according to the worldview of precessional time-space. ... Space and time are a single, related concept in Runasimi [the language of the Inca people], represented by one word, pacha, which can also mean 'world' and 'universe'. The image of time familiar to Waman Puma was static and spatial: one could travel in time as one travels over earth - the structure, the geography, remaining unchanged ... The precession made the Sun come earlier and earlier and the stars therefore moved ahead in the year. This movement could be described as if the Sun gradually 'stole' the places which earlier had been occupied by specific stars. But in Manuscript E it seems to have been described as the opposite - for what was stolen by Teke (the dark and hairy Occiput) was the property of Ma'eha (the bare and bright Face). ... ku ma'eha-á, it has already lightened up. Vanaga. 1. Light, brightness; to shine, to be bright, to glimmer, to glow; maeha mahina, moonshine; maeharaa, sunrise. Maehamaeha, bright. Hakamaeha, to brighten. Mq.: maeoeo, bright, transparent. 2. To get out of the way. 3. Thin, slender, slight. Churchill. The stars only appeared to move ahead in the calendar and what really happened was that the starry dome of the night above gradually took over the daytime domain of the Sun as he went earlier and earlier among the fixed stars, and therefore he also had to go down earlier and earlier in the evenings. From the current star at 0h (Sirrah, the Navel of the Horse, where Maui had been born in the topknot of Andromeda)
to the place of 0h in the era of the Bull there were *64 right ascension days. But there were 39 (yam) + 21 (kumara) = 60 'roots' to be carried onboard the Royal Double Canoe. Possibly 60 was alluding to 31 (January) + 28 (February) + 1 (March 1).
21 = 20 + 1, because all round objects resembling eggs should be counted in groups of 20 ('scores') and the extra one would then indicate the first object in the next such group: Mamari. Egg, fish roe. mâmari ata rauhau, last small egg laid by a hen before she turns broody. Vanaga. Egg (of fowl or fish), (gamamari), (Cf. komari.); mamari punua, chicken in the shell. Churchill. Kiakia. Dove, gull T. Mgv.: kiakia, the cry of the kotake (a white marine bird.) Churchill ... The transference of the name for sweet potatoes, kumara, to a sea bird (Oestrelata incerta or Oestrelata leucoptera) presents a problem in taxonomy. In a short recitation that accompanies the string game, the next bird on the list, kiakia, the white tern, is associated with the leaves of the sweet potato ... The name he mamari kiakia for the sweet potatoe variant at the beginning of the 2nd group (also listed as number 20) suiggests emergence from the underground to the surface of the earth because leaves cannot live below ground. But the right ascension day distance from Sirrah to the correspodning star at the time of the Bull, viz. Hyadum II in MARCH 20 (→ 320 → *320 at the south pole star Dramasa), was *41 (to Bharani, the female organ of reproduction) followed by *22 = *63 (nine weeks → Cat o' nine tails) to the end of side b. And then came *1 for the zero place hiding the fractions. ... the Maya astronomers knew the fractional errors connected with his period figures and corrected them by larger multiplications and intercalations. Returning now to our glyph-forms 1.1n etc [variants of Imix]. The ephemeris carries along accurate correlations of lunations and solar eclipses; at the end of the eclipse term, one of these ends on 10 Cimi, the other on 12 Lamat, shown by the upper and lower rows of day-signs. Above the thirteen red thirteens on page 51 we find our gl. 1.1n, stating '2 days are needed to tie up', from 10 Cimi, to the end of 46 tzolkins, on 12 Lamat ... In other words: One of the uses for Imix was evidently to 'tie up' the effects of fractions. Down in the water it is murky and the fractions belong there, I imagine ...
The solution to this problem (that only 60 roots were carriend onboard instead of 64 variants) was evidently to instead continue with a short list of banana (maika) variants (which were grown in protected places lower down than the surrounding ground):
Betelgeuze, however, came at *88 = *39 + *49, which presumably can be put in parallel with the sum of 39 notches around the border and 49 (plus a fraction) on the back side of the ancient mammoth bone calendar.
The complications in understanding the Manuscript E lists are great. But we should not bother, for our present goal is to work with the last 39 + 49 glyphs in the B text. Our preliminary view of the end of line Bb11 so far has heliacal Ukdah (the Knot) at the extraordinary pu glyph Bb11-39, possibly like the last of 5 'waves' having originated from ancient Egypt and the 5 dark nights when the quincunx Gods were born: ... Nut, whom the Greeks sometimes identified with Rhea, was goddess of the sky, but it was debatable if in historical times she was the object of a genuine cult. She was Geb's twin sister and, it was said, married him secretly and against the will of Ra. Angered, Ra had the couple brutally separated by Shu and afterwards decreed that Nut could not bear a child in any given month of any year. Thoth, Plutarch tells us, happily had pity on her. Playing draughts with the Moon, he won in the course of several games a seventy-second part of the Moon's light with which he composed five new days. As these five intercalated days did not belong to the official Egyptian calendar of three hundred and sixty days, Nut was thus able to give birth successively to five children: Osiris, Haroeris (Horus), Set, Isis and Nepthys ... 355 (solstice) + 5 (dark nights for birth) = 360 and then 4 more days to reach day 364 (= 4 * 91):
Our present world is a world up in the daylight. The red border line could be at Bb11-39. Beyond would then come 4 more glyphs (days) and then would follow line Bb12 carrying 45 days (glyphs). 39 + 4 + 45 = 88. And we could also count 11 * 39 = 429 (= 400 + 29) = 364 + 65. How can we relate August 13 to Betelgeuze? For instance by adding 88 + 16 = 104 in order to adjust for the delay by 16 nights before the star could be observed again. But that seems to necessitate support from the era of Bharani. *104 (Ukdah) + *49 (back side of the Mammoth bone) = *153 = *194 (October 1) - *41 (Bharani). October 1 (*194, 274 = 91 + 183). On Easter Island October 1 was like April 1 (100) north of the equator. 100 - 49 = 51 (February 20. *336 → 4 * 84). And presumably the B text is advicing us to use the Julian day number (84) for 0h: ... From these facts we can decuce that such a sum as 421
could equally well be expressed as a more satisfactory (even number) integer *422. Both the G and the C texts were designed in this fashion. *422 + *418 = *840 days = *210 weeks. There were twice 21 assessors in the Egyptian Underworld. Therefore the whole B text could cover 840 + 88 (two and twenty good four-wheeled wains) = 928 (= 2 * 464 = 32 * 29) right ascension days. Although the different number of glyph lines on side a compared to that on side b might possibly indicate that side a should be regarded as a complete calendar text and side b as another such complete text. In which case a day zero could be also at the beginning of side b. *422 + *419 = *841 (= 29 * 29) right ascension days. 928 - 841 = 3 * 29 = 87. And why not insert day zero on side b of the tablet instead at the begining of glyph line Bb11? The B text could then be regarded to cover approximatively *1 + *421 + *418 + *1 + *88 = *929 right ascension days. 260 + 1 = 9 * 29. *88 (= 22 * 4 'wagon wheels') could be an allusion to 3 synodic months, i.e. to 3 * 29½ = *88½ notches as once upon a time were incised on the ancient mammoth bone. To describe 88 + the fraction around ½ the creator of the B text could have used both 88 and *89. |
