216. The Venus pentagram beginning in July 8 AD 1900 continues beyond Antares in the Scorpion (corresponding to late at night just before daybreak in November 25 according to my assumed era for rongorongo)
and ahead to its 4th point in April 27 AD 1905 at the sign of Taurus. ... Antares, visible in the morning sky of December-January, came to stand for summer heat; hence the saying, 'Rehua cooks (ripens) all fruit' [hakatupu]. The generally accepted version of the Rehua myth, according to Best, is that Rehua had two wives, the stars on either side of Antares. One was Ruhi-te-rangi or Pekehawani, the personification of summer languor (ruhi), the other Whaka-onge-kai, She-who-makes-food-scarce before the new crops can be harvested ...
Antares in the Scorpion was at the opposite side of the sky compared to Aldebaran in Taurus, but in the pentagram no point could be exactly at the opposite side of any other such point.
Possibly this indicates that earlier they counted with 10 zodiacal signs instead of 12. ... Whare-patari, who is credited with introducing the year of twelve months into New Zealand, had a staff with twelve notches on it. He went on a visit to some people called Rua-roa (Long pit) who were famous round about for their extensive knowledge. They inquired of Whare how many months the year had according to his reckoning. He showed them the staff with its twelve notches, one for each month. They replied: 'We are in error since we have but ten months. Are we wrong in lifting our crop of kumara (sweet potato) in the eighth month?' Whare-patari answered: 'You are wrong. Leave them until the tenth month. Know you not that there are two odd feathers in a bird's tail? Likewise there are two odd months in the year.'
And earlier the northern spring equinox had been in Taurus, with the Sun later in time-space coming forth in Aries - emerging as from a prison like Elphin, the Prince (cfr The White Goddess, p. 28): ... 'a day and a year' can be equated with the Thirteen Prison Locks that guarded Elphin, if each lock was a 28-day month and he was released on the extra day of the 365 ...
Currently we are in Pisces = 2 signs later than Taurus. Does it mean the 4th pentagram point will be in Pisces? No, here Cartes du Ciel agrees with the rongorongo text that this point of the pentagram should be in Taurus.
