Where is Te Pou? I have just suggested it lies on the border between Gb2-11 and Gb2-12:
229 glyphs on side a (counted from Ga1-1) together with 26 in line b1 add up to 255, and 9 * 29.5 = 265.5, i.e. we should count 10½ glyphs into line b2. Gb2-11 is number 266, not Gb2-12. And then we have not begun counting from Gb8-30, in which case Gb2-10 would be number 266. But then Gb2-12 would be number 268 and Gb2-14 number 270. Gb2-14 has number 9 * 30 = 270 and its bottom resembles that in Gb2-10 (266), but - as I happened to notice - even more that in Gb7-28:
Although it is uncertain from where counting should begin, the distances can be defined. If Sirius is like the spring sun, then, of course, we should expect 168 to pop up somewhere close to Te Pou. |
