The coloured balls in our Christmas trees represent the planets, I am convinced.

And when Atan told about coloured balls for the nights around full moon, these should also be the planets:

Hotu (Ohotu) is the star (hoku in Hawaiian) 'fruit' and corresponds to Ohua.

A plant should represent Venus, it seems. Although the Tree (Niu) also connects to Jupiter, and - we have seen - to Mercury.

Mercury has here a black ball which is explainable because this planet is hard to see.

Jupiter has got a red ball, the colour of blood and life.

Full moon has no coloured ball, which is in harmony with the idea that when sun is blazing at full strenght at midsummer, then moon is in her invisible new moon position, at the receiving end. Therefore full moon should correspond to a dark 'invisible' new year position for the sun.

There are no colours in the dark and there are no colours when full moon is shining. The colours appear in between.

Omo means not only to 'suck' but also to 'paint' - that is what sun is doing when the planets shine in their different colours.
