The glyphs do not agree, though, with the suggested solution. Vero in Gb8-12 cannot signify the beginning of anything, it is a sign of the opposite, a 'dark cloth' sign. Instead, the exceptional tagata 4 glyphs later must refer to how sun has reached his full growth:
The head is replaced by a pair of reversed kai signs - eating has stopped and it is a solstice. 8 * 15 = 120 and the ordinal number counted from Gb2-27 is 175 = 7 * 25. If we count to 300 beginning with Gb8-16, we have 15 glyps at the end of side b. Together with 229 on side a it becomes 244 (= 4 * 61). There are 26 glyphs in line b1 and 244 + 26 = 270. It means glyph number 300 will be Gb2-30:
Tagata in Gb2-30 is looking back with a bent neck, it is over. Ordinal number in the glyph line (30) is in harmony with ordinal number counted from Gb8-16 (300). In many ways the glyphs surrounding Gb8-15 and Gb2-30 show that they belong together, which is amplified in this page. |
