The legitimacy of the oldest sun of Hotu Matua was questioned. Is he the father or not? Maybe the question is wrong, because the answer should be that the mother of Tuu Maheke is Vakai. Anciently, I guess, it was the mother who was important - the society of man was matrilinear.

I have suggested a chart for the week, summing up where the planets belong in the month. Mars follows Moon in the order of the week, and I think he is to be regarded as her son. At the same time Mars represents the spring sun, and I will therefore give him a suitable colour:

The glyph label numbers for Ca7-14 is in harmony with Mars being 'the son', the 'fruit' (hua):

However, it is more complicated. The 'fruit' is hanging at left, not at right which is the normal order for the hua type. It means the sign is reversed, and with the reversal of the sign comes also a reversal of its normal meaning. It is not the 'son' but the 'father' who is depicted at left. The growing moon is receiving her light from the father, and that is more understandable than her receiving light from her son.

It is still only day 26 counted from the beginning of the moon calendar (at Ca6-17). The 26th kuhane station (Hanga Moria One) is the last station of the ruling sun king, and he must be alive at Ca7-14.

Sun takes on different 'garments' (planets) over the year, and an attempt will be made here to sort out who the father might possibly be (which 'garment' Sun has at the conception of his son).

 

Once there may have been fewer 'garments' of the Sun, for instance maybe only 4.

Mercury could be a late addition. 7 - 1 = 6. Saturn represents the absence of light, he is the earth into which sun will sink later to be reborn again. The week (of today) has 7 light sources, and if Saturn has taken over an ancient Mother Earth 'garment', then also Saturn is a late addition. 6 - 1 = 5. And then we have arrived at the number of Saturn. From Saturn light will return, be reborn.

Once the square of Pegasus, close to Pisces, was at winter solstice. The square of earth, which now is represented by Saturn, must have been associated with water, because of Pisces.

A cosmic quarter later, when Pisces and the square had moved to spring equinox the square is no longer like a raft on the sea, it has become associated with the main agricultural season, a season of light.

The role of Saturn must have followed and explains why he has to be where the new fire comes.

From that it becomes understandable why the ritual year took over the new fire concept and reflected it back in time to winter solstice Saturn. The ritual year is that year which once was.

In the center of the surface of the earth square there is a fire, surely Sun himself. The 4 corners of the field are Moon and Mars on one side, and Venus and Jupiter on the other. So it should have been, I think.

Even earlier also Jupiter may have been outside the cosmic order. Instead Mars had his strong position in spring and his weak in autumn. But then it is just a small step even further back in time: In autumn it was Antares and in spring Aries.

And the Venus position in early autumn may have been Sirius:
