The arrangement of the 'waves', where the head should have been in Gb1-3, resembles that in the last two glyphs of K:

One out of four 'escapes', a sign we have seen earlier. The 4th quarter is special.

Side b is ruled by the moon (the measure 29.5), and spring sun has side a. But also, evidently the end of side b:

 183 = 63 + 120. Possibly the extra 3 (above half 120) are those immediately following Gb6-26:

Presumably we here can see the two half years, with Gb6-20 (6 * 20 = 120) perhaps illustrating 3 + 3 = 6 solar months à 30 days. In Gb5-18 the hipu sign pushes upwards, in Gb6-26 the 'sack' is at the bottom.

A tamaiti arrives close to the end of the year (position 13 of 14), and Tama is the 13th kuhane station. 14 * 29.5 = 413 (at Gb7-2).

In Gb6-28 we can count 12 * 14 (= 6 * 28) = 168, a famous mumber. In Gb6-27 we can count 9 * 18. The two tagata glyphs are at left, presumably meaning that the old year was fully grown in the past. The two 'holes' ('eggs') have reached the end.

The moa in Gb7-1 stands outside the threshold to the new year - it is 'real' only in the past (the wing at left) - and it reminds us of the similarly structured moa rere in Aa1-15 (though it is reversed and en face):

From there it is not far to the 4 vae kore:

And we can recognize the general pattern (4 + 4, and two running figures among the first 4):

In Gb6-24 (= 144 = 12 * 12 = 8 * 18) the last and 8th of the 1st half of the year corresponds to Aa1-8.

It is unclear why the 'feathers' have been structured as 12 + 13 + 15 + 15 = 25 + 30. In Aa1-5--8 the sum of the ordinal numbers in the line is 18 + 8 = 26. Or maybe 5 + 13 + 8. Or 5 + 6 + 7 + 8.

With 177 + 183 = 360 glyphs defined by this type of honu, there is a mystery in what else could be described by the 472 glyphs:

A tentative answer could be that the calendar is out of phase with the solstices. Why should a calendar begin at a solstice?

On side b the summer solstice is at position number 3. It indicates that there has been an effort by the creator of the G text to have summer solstice in the center of the calendar text. The calendar is based on multiples of 29.5, and from Gb1-2 there is such an order.

180 - 177 = 3. To reach Gb6-26 after 6 * 30 = 180 glyphs, the start must be at the last glyph on side a:

If a month should have 32 days, we must start even earlier: 6 * 32 = 192 (the K text number).

At the other end of the calendar cycle the same phenomenon must take place:

6 * 30.5 = 183. Very interesting is the fact that Ga5-7 (usually assigned number 4 * 29.5 = 118, as counted from Gb8-30) here will be number 6 * 30 = 180 (= 63 + 117) counted from Gb6-27.

It could mean that we should count 30 days per month until then. We have counted 6 * 29.5 from Gb1-3, half a year according to the moon. Then we count half a year according to the sun.

From Gb1-3 to winter solstice, when sun is waning, months are calibrated from the moon. Then sun takes over during waxing sun. But 3 days are intercalated at winter solstice, and we remember the 3 glyphs Aa1-13--15. These 3 days are needed to change 177 to 180.

From Ga5-10 up to and including Gb1-2 there are 233 - 120 = 112  = 4 * 28 glyphs. 472 = 12 * 30 + 4 * 28:
