Full moon is in Ga1-16 depicted in another way than as a great tree:

Like in Ca7-24 there is an oval with a 'person' inside. This one, though, is drawn like a strange mythic creature with wings and fish tail.

In Ga1-17 a waning moon is at left and at right there is a 'wilting' maro - the waning phase of the moon is over. In Ga1-19 the phase of moon has changed into waxing, which means gagana in Ga1-18 should be at the time of the dark new moon.

Ordinal number 18 is a characteristic, it seems, of gagana in G and the position of Gb7-18 is half a year beyond hakaturou in Gb1-18:

Adding 60 days more and we will reach full moon at Ga1-16 (240 days beyond hakaturou). At day 360 + 60 = 420 ('the 7th flame of the sun') there will be a full moon. After that event one eye hole of gagana has been filled up. Only one 'dead eye' remains to take care of.

From Gb7-18 up to and including Ga1-19 there are 63 days. Apparently it is the season when old sun has gone away and a new sun is being regenerated. 63 is the reverse of 36. It is the time of Saturn.

Ordinal number 491 for Ga1-19 has been counted from Gb8-30 at the beginning of the preceding cycle. 4 * 91 = 364. Then follows a moe with a very sharp 'heel' to indicate the beginning of a new cycle:

That hakaturou at Gb1-18 is involved can be seen by measuring to gagana in Gb8-7:

In addition it seems to have denoted the dark phase of midwinter sun.

Apparently the first glyph line of K was created with the structure of the week in mind, and this chart can be used for relating the glyphs to the planets:

Moon and Mars probably are 'the spring pillars in the east holding the sky roof up'. The ruling planet of the 21st day of the month is Mars (and the 20th is Moon) according to the chart. Maybe Mars was thought to be conceived at the time of gagana.

Otherwise it is Saturn which is the dark planet. Anciently Saturn seems to have been associated with the solstices (cfr Ga1-18 and ordinal number 18 in the chart).

The visual impression of the gagana head is a cranium (the symbol of death), where there are holes instead of eyes:

Eyes do not function in the dark and eyes are connected with light and the origin of light (fire). At the darkest of times, when 'the fire' has burnt out and only ashes remain - as for instance at winter solstice and at the end of the week - we find Saturn (which has no eyes).

 

Venus is not mentioned in the summary. I suspect the rongorongo writers wished to contrast their reality with that on the other side of the equator.

The Mayas were afraid of Venus, maybe because she ruled time and illustrated the end of life (light). If the rongorongo writers knew the Mayan symbol for Venus, then they could have turned it upsided down:

 

Sun and the phases of Venus probably were correlated by the Mayas. When sun is north of the equator and Venus (ideally) has her morning phase, then it should be dark on Easter Island and the ruling planet should be Saturn.

Rongorongo glyphs do not show the inside, the Mayan glyphs show nothing else.

Gagana is the inversed Venus. As 8th son of Tu the sun light has run out. The 'morning phase' has turned into 8 days of complete darkness. Te Pei has been reached.
