The last page in the series 'the surrounding glyphs' (surrounding hahe in Aa3-9):

It seems also to be relevant to count to 99 from Rei in Ka3-15 to viri in Kb4-6:

By coordinating 3-14 on side a of Tahua with 3-14 on side a of K (the 'fire generator') and then stepping 5 glyphs back, we will have an indication of a possibility - that hahe could be at the base of ariki glyphs.

Aa3-6 Aa3-7 Aa3-8 Aa3-9 (184) Aa3-10
Aa3-11 Aa3-12 Aa3-13 Aa3-14 Aa3-15 (190)

Ariki in Ka3-9 has 4 feathers in his headgear. But one of them is standing straight up, which could mean a 'string of measurement'. If so, then are 3 feathers in front, referring to spring.

In Ka3-11 there are 5 feathers at the back, presumably meaning the old fire has been stamped out, and 3 feathers are in front. It is time 8. A kava sign at the bottom is the basis of this event.

At Ka3-14, where we can count 3 * 140 = 420, there is a time zero. And of course Ka3-15, where we count 3 * 15 - 420 = 30, is when light has returned again. In Aa3-15 it is expressed with a 'spreading out' type of hau tea.

In Aa3-14 the top of henua is of the midnight type, while the bottom is straight. Generating fire both 'sexes' are needed.

The 'fire generator' (Ka3-14) and the mixed henua (Aa3-14) are days of Mars. He brings the light.

We have put on the table niu and ariki, they could be glyph types which incorporate hahe signs:

Aa3-9

Then we have accepted side b as the 'front' side of Tahua:

side b side a
117 271 274 183 486
Ab2-36 (118) Ab5-66 (390) Aa3-9 (848)
848 = 16 * 53

Number 53 has entered the stage and I have suggested it is connected with 29.53 (the length of the synodic month). We have encountered 53 earlier, e.g. in G:

67

111

82

Gb3-1

Gb5-6

Gb8-30 Ga1-1 Ga4-1

Ga4-2

180 85
265 = 5 * 53

I will now also suggest that number 53 has been used in Saturday on purpose:

Hb9-51 Hb9-52 Hb9-53 (465) Hb9-54
Hb9-55 Hb9-56 Hb9-57 Hb9-58

The vertical disjunction between the two fishes (ikaika) indicates a gap in time. Ordinal number 465 has been counted from Hb1-1. Rei in Hb9-56 is number 468. 468 = 13 * 36 and 46 * 8 = 368 = 468 - 100 and the last day in the calendar of Q.

Having found Rei in Hb9-56 to be possibly alluding to the end of a year with 368 days, it is then easy to connect Hb9-53 with day 365.

9 * 53 = 477 = 177 (= 6 * 29.5) + 300 (= 10 * 30).

If we instead had counted from Ha1-1, Rei in Hb9-56 would have been number 468 + 666 = 1134 = 377 * 3 + 3. We once concluded we had to reduce the ordinal number of the glyphs in H with 3 and then to add 64 days:

Hb9-51 Hb9-52 Hb9-53 Hb9-54 Hb9-55 Hb9-56 (1134)
440 (1134 - 3) / 3 + 64 = 441

Everything is possible, nothing is certain. If we count with 648 instead of 666 glyphs on side a, day 440 will change to day 434. If we count with only the number of visible glyphs (579), then the day number will be 434 - 69 / 3 = 434 - 23 = 411. Or possibly 412 if we do not subtract the 3 glyphs Ha1-1--3.

However, of all the possible readings which immediately present themselves the following seems to carry most weight: 9 * 52 = 468 indicates this number belongs at Hb9-52 rather than to Rei in Hb9-56 (in which case we have to add 3 glyphs instead of subtracting 3 glyphs as on side a). This is necessary in order to give Saturn day 468 and to let the gap between the fishes coincide with the first glyph beyond 468:

Hb9-51 Hb9-52 (468) Hb9-53 Hb9-54 Hb9-55 Hb9-56

The oddly designed hua poporo which follows presumably then indicates when a new fire is created. It has 5 instead of the normal 4 'droplets' and 9 * 54 = 486 (where 6 and 8 have changed places). Hb9-53 therefore occupies the 18 time units between the end of fire and its new beginning.

This reading does not exclude for instance counting from Ha1-1 and identifying Hb9-53 with day 1044, the easy interpretation based on simply counting those glyphs which are visible. Interestingly, 1044 is looking very much like 440 (= 10 * 44).

This extraordinary page suggests we should 'count with' both an obvious simple reading and a more sophisticated nontrivial reading. Both ought to be in harmony with what the glyphs are indicating. Unquestionably Ikaika (Saturn) is indicated in Hb9-53. Time is running, or rather taking a jump over the gap.

1044 = 5 * 88, a fact which may be interpreted to say that 'fire' (5) here connects one 8 with another. The old year with 8 * 46 = 368 days is ending, but a new year with 8 * 46 days is beginning.

5 * 88 can also be read as 5 * 8 + 5 * 8, in which case we have 400 for the old year and 400 for the new year.

40(0) as a number for the total cycle can then be applied to regard hua poporo as the 14th glyph (= 54 - 40). Time is counted up to 20, but in a year there are two halves - i.e. 20 + 20 = 40. The maximum 20 for nights in a month presumably refers to waxing moon. The year has two halves and it becomes 40.

Counting planets we should avoid going beyond 20, I guess. But counting the year we should be able to reach 40. but no further:

Hb9-51 Hb9-52 (468) Hb9-53 Hb9-54 Hb9-55 Hb9-56 Hb9-57 Hb9-58
11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18

3 months of invisibility. Number 14 indicates where the new fire must be ignited, in the house of the Russian. If we count with 468 at day Hb9-52, then Rei will be at day 472 = 16 * 29.5. The wicked uncle has his house at Hb9-53, maybe it is he who is running away.

The page for 'niu and ariki':

Mostly niu and ariki are glyphs which unites the hahe sign (if such it is) with the rest of the glyph. But there are a few cases where hahe is drawn as a separate unit.

Only P has niu glyphs with a separate hahe sign:

167
Pa11-20 (586) Pb4-55 (754)

It should be noted that side a of P has 599 glyphs (which we possibly now should read as 99 + 500 - if we follow our experience from E). The distance from the 'puo' type of niu to the henua type of niu is significantly 168.

Hahe joined to ariki glyphs exist in a few more cases:
