Now we have arrived to the glyph type vaha kai. The first pages in the dictionary:
The number of glyphs are 6 + 8 + 7 = 21 (Ya), 7 + 8 + 6 = 21 (Yb), respectively 10 + 6 + 8 = 24 (Ya). It could be that there are no glyphs missing. 24 would then refer to a whole cycle, and 21 + 21 = 42 is arranged as in the ancient Egyptian picture of the judges of the dead: If so, then Ya and Yb form a pair which should be the waning (2nd) part of the 'year', and Yc represent the 1st part (spring). The two lines Ya and Yb are reflections of each other:
13 + 13 = 26 together with 16 will result in 42. 21 = 6 + 7 + 8. Or maybe 8 + 7 + 6 - possibly the number should decrease over time if it measures the power of 'light'. 8 could represent the winter half ruled by the moon and 7 the first part of summer, with 6 the second part. In G the henua periods show the pattern 7 followed by 6. The fat fishes in Ya and Yb should be contrasted with the lean ones in line Yc:
The fat ones must have passed through the waxing phase. According to Fischer side c of the snuff box has 2 glyph lines and side d "...1 and traces of another ...", which means that we can sum the glyph lines in the following manner:
84 = 2 * 42 suggests we have all the glyphs documented. 39 = 3 * 13 and with the 13 from the 3rd lines of Ya and Yb it becomes 52 = 2 * 26. Sun has 3 quarters in the light and 1 in the darkness. 32 = 4 * 8 is the moon part. The text on the Paris Snuff Box has suddenly become very valuable. It seems to be a calendar in concentrate. The 'traces of another [glyph line]' on side d probably is just a way to indicate how light disappears.
Counting from the beginning of side c the great henua in Yc3-106 will be number 22 (cycle is ending) and koti in Yc3-104 will be number 20. Venus rules the beginning and end of line Yc3. The same goes for line Yc1:
The 2 henua glyphs clearly belong together:
The fish in Yc2-105 is in Mercury and represents midsummer. That is the time when 'the deluge' (cfr Mars at ua in Yc2-104) will 'swallow' spring. The 'flipper of the turtle' strikes out and elmininates 1 of the 7:
It was Venus who disappeared (together with Mars). The fish of Mercury looks suspiciously fat. The expected Venus in Yc2-107 does not arrive. Counting from the beginning of line Ya1 the ordinal number of Yc2-106 is 58 (= 2 * 29.5). Beyond number 58 follows the line which I have labelled Yc3 but which in reality is a separate part of the box (text). There Venus appears both at the beginning and the end (as if to compensate for how she 'missed the train' at the end of line Yc2). Furthermore at the location of Mercury is marked his boundary in form of a fat henua:
By adding 6 to 58 we reach 64, the perfect cycle (8 * 8) is completed. But then also number 66 is defined:
The lines Ye and Yf must form another cycle:
Here we can read that Moon is in the first of the lines (4 + 4 = 8) and Sun (6 + 5 = 10) in the second of the lines: 8 divides into two equal squares and Sun has his usual 6 (spring) followed by 4 (autumn, when Moon rules). But to balance the picture we can read line Ye as referring to spring and line Yf as referring to autumn:
We can read that Sun is born when winter (Moon) still is ruling. Furthermore, only the Moon (winter) part has glyphs which are fully visible. The summer (Sun) glyphs, 6 + 4 in number, are seen only at the bottom. Maybe when the sun light is strong only the beginning of the days allows observation of the night sky. Venus rules the first half of the year, Saturn the second half. In Ye1-104 Saturn shows that the 'earth' (of Moon) is ending. Her henua is gone. Sun is taking over. |
