Is it a coincidence to find the kava glyph in K in the next to last position in the 3rd 8-glyph group?
24 glyphs in 3 groups of 8 glyphs (24) are followed by 2 more (reaching 26) before Rei:
Number 26 is important and probably not a coincidence - the counting is arrived at from how the glyphs look, how they appear to be ordered and what we know about their meanings etc. A new counting surely will begin with Rei. The structure in Tahua is not exactly the same, because the 2 last multiples of 29 follow after 26 - not after 24:
Aa8-30--31 are located in position 27, while Ka3-11--14 are located in positions 22-26. However, if we start counting with Ka2-1 we will reach 36 at Ka3-14 (that we have discovered earlier). Ka3-11--14 will then be equal to 33-36 - or equal to the last two pairs of 18 pairs of glyphs, and the kava glyph (Ka3-11) be the first glyph in the 17th pair. This looks more meaningful than position 22. A third possibility is to begin counting with Rei in Ka2-10. Instead of 36 glyphs we will then have 36 - 9 = 27 glyphs and Ka3-11 will be number 22 - 9 = 13. But if in a sun calendar kava should be located in the 27th position (the residence of the future king, Papa O Pea), then a moon calendar maybe should have its kava glyph in the 17th position (the residence of a future queen). A moon 'residence' for the king and a sun 'residence' for the moon sounds as a suitable arrangement for them when they should meet. There are twice 8 glyph lines in Tahua, and Aa8-30--31 are located in the first half of the 16th glyph line. Counting full moon as the 15th night, the decline will begin in the 16th night. The last viri in Aa8-26 indicates this by being located in the 16th glyph line. Beyond the 16th night of the moon the season of growth will be over. Maybe the 17th night of the moon is where next generation will be created. If the calendar in Tahua is a 'map' of the path for the sun, it will not describe - I guess - the happenings in the 17th night of the moon. But there is another kava sign in Aa2-75. It is located in the 10th glyph line. 16 for growing moon has a corresponding 10 (as end station) for the sun. And we have not yet accounted for the 4th viri (Aa5-7). From 16 we associate to 26 (not to 24). The new season will then follow (as reflected in the 27th kuhane station, Papa O Pea) and the old season is swept away (pea):
We should be reminded of the Maya customs:
The 2nd and 3rd 8-groups, with 2 'new light generator' glyphs added at the end:
Earlier this structure was presented:
The new alternative is based on pairs of glyphs:
Here, possibly, is an explanation of why the 16th period of K is reflected in the parallel G text as periods 16-18:
Kava would then be in period 17 in G. Instead of sun light generated in the 18th pair (Ka3-13--14) the opposite of sun light appears in the 18th period of G (Ga5-17--21). Suppose 260 originated from counting on the fingers (5). Doubling presumably was the first primitive means of multiplying. By doubling any great number could be quickly reached. We remember the tale about placing one grain of seed on the first square on the chess board and then doubling it into 2 on the next square and so on. By doubling we get the series: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256 ... The Mamari moon calendar has 8 periods and 16 is the last night of growing moon. 64 is the number of squares on a chess board and 16 is also a square number - square as the earth. 256 is also a square: 16 * 16 = 256. The 'earth year' ought to be 256 days, equal to a 'great growing moon' season - i.e. to summer. If we double the number of fingers on one hand 8 times we reach 5 * 256 = 1280:
Fingers are symbols for fire. After 256 hands the fire is finished. Adding one more hand and we reach darkness - 261 = 9 * 29 - and therefore number nine aquires a dark meaning. 261 is one more than 260. We can add 4 fingers to 256 (equal to 8 'doublings' of one finger) and still be in the light. I think this is the reason why once a long time ago 260 became the total number of days in calendars. The sum of the number of grains on the chess board squares is increasing in the series 1, 3, 7, 15, 31, 63, 127, 255 ..., where each new term is easily calculated as a square number minus 1. The sum will be 255 already after 7 'doublings'. Adding 5 we reach 260. Either we can imagine adding 4 fingers to 256 (congruent with adding 4 nights to 360 in order to reach 364 nights in a year) or we can imagine adding 5 fingers to 255 (congruent with adding 5 nights to 360 in order to reach 365 days in a year). On Easter Island, it seems, 180 was associated with the sun (male) and 260 with the moon (female):
The kuhane journey was a female (night) journey, therefore 28 stations (including the 2 beyond the 26 for the ruling king). 26 was a sun number, i.e. the sun should be reigning also in 'winter'. But glyph number 1280 (5 * 256) + 5 = 1285 (5 * 257) ought to be beyond the domain of the ruling sun:
The structure is similar to that in the puzzle about those shipwrecked sailors who shared the coconuts on the island together with a monkey - 5 sailors woke up in turn during the night and each took 1/5th of the pile of nuts (steadily diminishing in size), but by dividing into 5 equal shares of nuts 1 nut was over (all 5 times), which the monkey got. 5 sailors (each like 256 days) and 1 monkey (5 nuts). 2 as in 'doubling' and 5 as in fingers on a hand. In a decimal system 10 = 2 * 5. 2 will reflect 5. The very last glyph (Aa8-35) is extremely complex and could very well express this notion. In Aa8-36 the ordinal number is expressing 'midnight' and in Aa8-37 a strange 'mago' variant of that in Aa8-35 reappears in a turning-around gesture. 8 * 35 = 280 = 10 * 28 and 8 * 36 = 288 = 12 * 24. 1284 = 12 * 107 and 1285 = 5 * 257. Note how 12 and 5 is a pair while 107 and 257 form another pair. 12 * 5 = 60 (sun double-month) while 10 7 (twice 5 followed by 7) form a pair with 25 7 (5 * 5 followed by 8). In Aa8-32 the strange base of henua probably reflects the strange cut off end of the top part of viri:
Between them the 5 'extracalendrical' glyphs lie:
And beyond henua 5 other glyphs follow:
