In the calendar for the year in G / K there are some such 'closed fists' (see below), presumably meaning start / end of periods, end being marked by maro. Consequently, with the 'sunny character' (GD81) holding two 'closed fists' there might be a meaning of location between two periods. 'Closed fists' could be knots, needed to bind the periods at the start and at the end where a new fire is to be ignited.

There also seems to be a text sequence with 'fists' which has parallels in other texts. Here the 'fists' seem to be at the other end of arms, as the bony joint at the shoulder. The arms are limbs similar to periods.
 
Notably there is are no 'fists' / 'joints' / 'knots' in the calendars for the week and the month. They seem to be associated with the Sun.
