Nowadays, of course, I have
by experience learned to
distinguish and recognize at
least some parts of this
intricate system of writing.
I therefore, with no
hesitation, am able to state
that the main part of Aa1-11
is the same as that in
Aa1-12:
The curve at right follows the same pattern, that is the key. Then there are signs, but that is another matter. This is not Barthel's number 4. I tried to keep Barthel's classification system and define additional codes for variants which obviously could not mean the same thing. That I worked with for a few years, before I realized that it was impossible to codify glyphs like this. Information would always be lost and even minor differences were not just a result of sloppiness from the writers but they carried meaning. Such details were necessary to observe and understand in order to reach the meaning the writers had tried to document in these small marvelous pictures.
