This glyph (Hb3-3) shows hônu = turtle = spider = the sun, as described in GD17. Evidence for this interpretation as being correct is found in the appearance of the following glyph in Pb7-44, the first glyph arriving in the text after this Matariki calendar. It has a straight limb stretching downwards and a viri (GD33) across its chest, which we now easily can read as indicating winter solstice:
A similar glyph (Aa7-58) appears in the Matariki calendar of Tahua:
The left (seen from us) 'ear' is marked. But does this sign indicate the sun's rays or should we read it as 'wrapped up in cloth', i.e. sun no longer reaching us with his rays?
