The top of the part to the left (three upward-turned wedges on top of each other) already Barthel suggested means night, death, blackness and similar connected concepts.

I agree. What made me convinced is that I think that I can recognize these three 'wedges'. They represent the top of a hare paenga, where three layers of thatch makes it completely dark inside. This type of house has no use more than being a place to sleep in. It is too dark and cramped.

Sleep, darkness, night and death are close friends.
