This glyph is smaller (more infantile) than the other two of this general type:
Presumably it means Ea7-7 is a marked variant of this type of glyph, whereas other two are unmarked. I guess this part of the E text is like an overview of a year subdivided into 6 parts, beginning with the first half of the year - represented by three periods starting with these glyphs - and continuing with another set of three periods for the second half of the year. New year should start at winter solstice and after that things will start to grow anew. It should be noticed that Ea7-7 is assymetric, with one 'arm' being short and triangular and that in front like a fin. According to http://www.rongorongo.org/vanaga the word pepe means 'seat' (whereas pepa = butterfly). Jaussen (according to Barthel) had pepe = 'papillon', which agrees with the Tahitian dialect of the Polynesian language. What is meant with seating of periods should be well known for us by now.
