I will continue with this method, to save information from important reference books, as soon as I have read them; that is, such information as I find relevant to this 10-year project of mine. By documenting like this I at the same time am forced to sort and order and this process also makes the information more firmly planted in my mind. Next book in line is Needham 2. The first subject I find interesting is the five elements. Then we have the subject of yin / yang, and - closely connected as I believe - the strange cyclical (not circular) logic. Dynamic (non-trivial) causality perhaps would be a better designation. Cosmos as a system with interrelationships between all its parts implies that we should search for some primary 'movers' (or 'leaders') to observe, how else could we understand the order and our part ('dance' in the right way)? In 'European' thought there is a 'shepherd', but not so in the rest of the world. There, instead, it is natural to look for guidance upward to the 'dance' of the celestial 'persons'. Clearly the influence is from above. Moon causes the level of water to change, Sun creates order by giving light, and Stars dictates all the other events. (But Comets are bad omens, irregular and therefore frightening.) |
