Whereas the origin of GD33 presumably is a double hau (GD19), glyph type GD49 clearly resemles GD29:
GD49 is then a stylized leg, where the knee is equivalent to the white mountain of summer solstice. We remember the two legs of Pachamama, they were straight, each leg representing (presumably) half a year. But wasn't the right leg summer and the left one winter, i.e. we had an equinox between them? I don't remember my thinking when I wrote about her. Is the knee (in both GD29 and GD49) autumn equinox? That seems more reasonable, as the upper part of GD49 is thicker than the lower half. The tapering off point (of GD49) is equivalent to the lower leg in GD29, the upper half is the thigh. Why is not that part of the leg shown wider than it is in GD29? Does not that mean we should regard GD29 as not a real leg but as the path of the sun (like in GD33)? Yes, but the same goes for GD49. Consequently it is the wide thigh of GD49 that needs explanation. In acient Egyptian times the Thigh was a constellation located where we have the Big Dipper. I will return to that one later. |
