I think we should learn from this example of thought patterns: that we in the west/north have vertical axles and those in the east/south have horizontal ones. Pattern governs much. Therefore, we should consider the similarities in structure between 'noon' in the calendar of the day, in the lunar calendar etc. In the world of structure midsummer is noon. At noon the spirits are close, exactly as in the middle of the night. The aitu come in from the sea at noon. If the spirits are close at noon and also at midnight, that must be because the distance up to the sky is less than usual. And that must mean there are two mountains in the sky. They are inversed in relation to us and therefore their tops are very close to us. The mountain up north (north of the equator) hides the sun more or less, creating shadows (yin). The mountain in the south (north of the equator) is not hiding the sun, on the contrary it is the close encounter with the sun - summer solstice. And of course the summer solstice mountain south of the equator lies in the north, while the winter solstice mountain (= the absence of the sun) lies in the south. In GD33 the summer mountain (north) is located at left (female) and the winter mountian (south) is at right (male). |
