Reculer pour mieux sauter, the Frenchman says, 'go back to be able to jump longer'. Wise words. The ground is rather shaky and we must secure every step. Number exercises cannot stand isolated, they must be checked against the appearances (and meanings as far as we have ideas about that) of the glyphs. Therefore I here and now will attempt to make credible those relocations which I have made in order to reach the magic 7 both for 'b' and for 'c'. First I relocated Hb4-44 and Hb4-45
from 4c to 4b. This operation does not seem ill made. These two glyphs evidently belong together - that I have documented (in my comments about Hb4-44). And the meaning of these two glyphs - I still believe - has to do with 'turn around' + 'give away', i.e. a turn point in time, the middle of something. The documentation in the rongorongo text of this turn point would be better located in 4b than in 4c. Because the new phase is always making itself felt before the change really takes place, 'seating' comes first. So this relocation is good. We could have reached that one without numbers. This was the only relocation which was needed in order to reach 7 in all the six 'c'-sequences. As regards the relocations to reach 7 in all the six 'b'-sequences I have a set of pages for that. |
