3. It was a tremendous achievement, to cut in half the 'land of water'. It upset the harmonious balance of cosmos. Maybe the punishment was exit from Paradise. And the door back had slammed close, because in daytime we can only move forward. Killing the nighttime half of man meant cyclic time turned into a time like a loosened thread, no longer taking part in the whole.

Without reading the Bible I can guess what had happened - Adam (the man) had killed the 'Serpent of Eve'. Such a deed cannot in the 'land of water' go unpunished. The logic of correspondences - the fundamental and single rule of Moon (which for instance stipulates 'an eye for an eye') - immediately struck back. Also 'dry land' must be divided in two parts and Spring Sun must die a quarter of a year earlier than before.

In mathematics the cap sign (Ç) is used to indicate the operation 'intersection', whereas the opposite cup sign (È) signifies the operation 'union'. If the operation 'union' is cut in half it becomes crippled, it cannot function. Marduk's action of 'cutting' (sectioning) the night was an intrusion, an act of war in order to conquer. He took the 2nd half of the night.

But he had to pay the price. The Serpent is still there, because he is the shadow of light and cannot disappear. You cannot lift yourself by grabbing hold of your hair, it is doomed to fail.

Marduk succeeded in putting out the 'eye' of Moon. Today you can come in contact with your creative half only when your conscious self goes to sleep. 8 hours of sleep leaves 16 hours to the land of Marduk. Anciently man slept in the nights and 'lived' in daytime. By sleeping enough hours instead of tumbling to bed like an already dead man he could be completely awake and still think creatively during 12 hours of light.

We can guess the ideas behind changing an old runic alphabet from 24 to 16 letters - mind could no longer grasp 24.
