... The evening
of 23 June, St. John's Eve,
is the eve of celebration before
the Feast Day of Saint John the
Baptist. The Gospel of Luke
(Luke 1:36, 56-57) states that
John was born about six months
before Jesus; therefore, the
feast of John the Baptist was
fixed on 24 June, six months
before Christmas Eve ...
When Wezen, at the back bone of
Canis Major, rose with the Sun at 0h, then Spica
rose with the Sun at St John's Eve. 282 (October
9) - 107 = 175 (*JUNE 24). This would have been
easy to remember.
The star calendar had here the
nakshatra date 'March 14, to be understood as
3-14 = 314 = π. In
rongorongo times the nakshatra date was April 10
= day 100 counted from January 1.
