My whimsical journey is governed by intuition, otherwise I could have quickly decided December 13 was the beginning of 8 dark nights before reaching the winter solstice. Followers of the Sun could have adopted and changed an earlier Moon calendar event connected with the return of spring. This would explain why the singing women are carrying multiple candle lights in the dark early morning. The magic could be to mimic the return of Venus as morning star and thereby to accomplish a similar return of morning Sun. 10 (decem) * 13 = 130 = 400 - 270. Once the solar year could have measured 9 * 30 = 270 nights. In a Moon calendar with 400 (= 20 * 20) nights there will be 80 nights from number 320 to the end of the calendar. The reversed bird with tail drawn down in front at 21h and in manzil night 264 could indicate the end of such a 400 nights long calendar. From there to the March equinox there would be 45 days:
The following 4 nights could have been needed to reach manzil day 268 when the Nose of the Lion (Al Minhar al Asad, κ Leonis) was close to the full Moon.
Notably κ Velorum (Markab) rose only hours earlier than κ Leonis. The Polynesian evidently saw the Sail (Ra) as a manifestation of Sun (Ra). At the other end of the sky Sun was at α Cepheus (Alderamin):
κ Cephei is not at the end of the constellation but at its beginning. It is not yet in my star list, but we remember how also κ Lyrae was at the beginning - probably a sign of reversal. Metoro said kua huri ra:
