Probably by design February 1 was positioned as the first glyph in line Ca12:
The reversed manu kara etahi 320 days from March 21 was also 32 days from January 3 (368). This is 21h counted from March 21. A year with 12 * 32 = 384 days extends ½ day beyond 13 lunar synodic months. In February 4 (400) Sun had just passed Armus (η) and Dorsum (θ) to arrive at χ Capricorni (320.0):
In the nights of early February the sky around 21h could be seen, where the 'Tree' (Milky Way) grew all the way up from Argo Navis and the Sirius manzil (Murzim). Miaplacidus (β), Tureis (ι), and Markab Velorum (κ) marked the last part of Argo Navis:
Half a month later, Simiram (ω) together with q and p marked where the prow of the Ship had been totally engulfed by the Tree. But first came the stars at the neck of Hydra, those who formed the Knot (Ukdah) - as if stopping Sun as watery snake from moving on. These stars, lead by Alphard (α), could be seen in the night when the manzil Al Baldaah ended:
February 13 was also a special date and easily identified in the text by the 2nd in the quartet of vae (going away, oho) glyphs. Sun had here reached the last star of Cygnus (Azelfafage, π) and in the night sky υ Carinae (Vathorz Prior) was visible clost to Moon - a star which half a year later would rise together with Sun in August 16 (228) = Murzim 13 (92).
"The manzil Al Nathrah, the Gap in the hair under the muzzle of the supposed immense ancient Lion, was chiefly fomred by Praesaepe [Beehive, ε Cancri]; but later on γ and δ were sometimes included, when it was Al Himārain, the Two Asses, a title adopted from the Greeks. The Arabs also knew it as Al Fum al Asad and as Al Auf al Asad, the Mouth, and the Muzzle, of the Lion, both referring to the early figure." (Allen)
The open mouth depicted at February 17 (i.e. 14 * 29 ½ = 413 days from January 1 the preceding year) could allude to Al Fum al Asad (the Mouth of the Lion). But Sun as Lion means the hot and fierce summer and therefore, when seen in the nights of February, his mouth has to be negated = turned upside down:
A quick look in the bathroom mirror will convince everyone that the mouth indeed is here depicted upside down. A further proof is in this ao dance paddle from Easter Island:
When Metoro said kua pure ia he probably saw the upside down mouth and then explained its meaning by comparing with an empty sea shell (pure), where of course the former occupant no longer was alive (with only his spirit whispering inside). The last vae oho in the quartet adjoins day 50 (February 19) where the idea of upside down is illustrated in another way. This is at 22h when in the night sky Regulus (the Little King) was close to the Moon. A yawning figure in Ca12-20 was commented by Meotoro as kua moe, 'who, kua, (goes to) sleep, moe'. After half a year as ruling king Sun would be tired:
