Ca1-26
kua moe ki te tai.

At the partially hidden figure in Ca1-21 Metoro said tagata huki.

Tagata

Man; human being in general; the plural is gagata. Vanaga.

Man, mankind; tagata ke, some one else; tagata no, nation. P Pau.: tagata, man. Mgv.: tagata, man or woman. Mq.: enata, enana, kenana, man. Ta.: taata, id. Tagataa, incarnate. Tagatahaga, human, humanity. Churchill.

Huki

1. Pole attached to the poop from which the fishing-net is suspended: huki kupega. 2. Digging stick. 3. To set vertically, to stand (vt.). 4. Huki á te mahina, said of the new moon when both its horns have become visible. Vanaga.

1. To post up, to publish. 2. To cut the throat (uki). Mq.: Small sticks which close up the ridge of a house. Ha.: hui, the small uniting sticks in a thatched house.  Churchill.

Standing upright. Barthel.

M. Spit for roasting. Te Huki, a constellation. Makemson.

Hukihuki. 1. Colic. 2. To transpierce, a pricking. 3. To sink to the bottom. Churchill.

Strange is the appellation tagata, which Metoro here is using for a moe type of bird. Why not instead say moe huki?

moe Ca1-21 marama

Hukihuki is to sink to the bottom, whereas huki points upwards, and it is only the upper part of the figure which is visible. The front (and separate) part could refer to the 'horn' of the new moon (huki á te mahina).

Mahina

The moon; maeha mahina, moonshine. P Mgv.: mahina, light; maina, the moon, moonlight. Mq.: mahina, moon, month. Peculiar interest attatches to Mangareva mahina in the sense light, for before the Proto-Samoan was touched by the later Tongafiti influence masina was not the moon but the shining orb and therefore particularly the sun ... Churchill.

The reversed marama in front could be a sign of Sun. Tagata huki could refer to the returning Sun, still not fully visible but on his way up. But south of the equator he would instead be very tired and inclined to got to sleep (moe). However, the left part of Ca1-21 is in the past and there is a koti sign before the reversed marama.

Time is broken in day 366 because the year is ca 365¼ days long. April 11 comes 100 days later. Possibly the Gregorian calendar was thought to make a jump from the end of its year to April 13, when Sun (manu rere) would return after his voyage inside the Great Fish of winter:

"... At some point cetus became synonymous with 'whale' (the study of whales is now called cetology). In his 1534 translation, William Tyndale translated the phrase in Jonah 2:1 as 'greate fyshe' and he translated the word ketos (Greek) or cetus (Latin) in Matthew 12:40 as 'whale'. Which states 'For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth ..." (Wikipedia)
