Given that 'muan'
in Cb1-11 was marking the final heliacal day we could then try
to read the dates according to the fixed stars in the night. Or
possibly there were 8 days where we should read both heliacally
and nakshatra wise. Or where neither method would be quite
adequate:

Toliman (at the right
front hoof of the 'Cavalry Officer') is the star which - disregarding our own Sun
- is
closest to our planetary system.
There is a great bend in
the Eridanus river and if we should think this river was
corresponding to
a flow of time it
would present a problem. It would be
uncertain which way time was running at Libra, in the 8 day
distance from Toliman to
Algol.
The Sea Beast (Cetus) had his head above the Bend
in the River (Angetenar), with Mira at his throat rising a week
earlier.
Kochab was an ancient star at the Pole and at
this position there was no further north (up) and the cardinal
directions were uncertain.
