1. Let us now consider our example text again. I tried to get some order into the linear sequence of its 16 glyphs by dividing it into 2 parts, each 8 glyphs long:

'front side'   'back side'
Eb7-7 Eb7-8 Eb7-15 Eb7-16
Eb7-5 Eb7-6 Eb7-13 Eb7-14
Eb7-3 Eb7-4 Eb7-11 Eb7-12
Eb7-1 Eb7-2 Eb7-9 Eb7-10

The sign which I saw was 16, which ought to be 8 + 8, following the pattern on the G tablet (where 8 * 29.5 = 236 is the number of glyphs on each half of its text).

Furthermore, I guessed the first 8 glyphs represented the 'front side' and the next 8 glyphs the 'back side' (as if they were the 2 sides of a little tablet). Arrows pointing upwards should remind us that such is the way a tablet text is to be read, growing upwards like a vine.

In general these ideas still seem relevant. However, my pairwise arrangement of the glyphs does not seem to be supported by the signs. For instance is it more reasonable to group Eb7-5--7 together and likewise Eb7-8--10 together:

'leaf' (?)
Eb7-5 Eb7-6 Eb7-7
'straw' (?)
Eb7-8 Eb7-9 Eb7-10

With trios of glyphs the central one becomes more important than the flanking ones. Manu rere in Eb7-6 could represent the 'living spirit' of Sun's childhood. 5 + 5 = 10 'cherries' is a sign of Sun, and halfway through his 10 months he will be initiated into the world of grown-ups.

In Eb7-9 the 'Tree' has sunken low, presumably indicating next cardinal point in Sun's life, viz. reaching the horizon in the west. 14 Kankin ('skeleton ribs') could be the corresponding Mayan month:

14 Kankin 15 Moan
Eb7-9 Eb7-10
