By now we should expect the next station for Mars in AD 2023 to be at the last Greek lettered star resting on the ecliptic in Virgo: And indeed, according to Cartes du Ciel we can find Mars at this place in the evening sky of October 23 AD 2023, close to the Libra constellation and apparently resting on the horizon:
Another name for λ Virginis is 100 Virginis, we can see. With the heel of her right foot the Virgin stabilizes the crossbeam of Libra while the heel of her left foot rests firmly on the ecliptic:
Below Virgo the Crater is tipping over before the Raven can get a drink.
Spica is below the ecliptic. But Spica has been placed above the band of order and progress in the flag of Brazil as depicted from the southern hemisphere:
The tail of the sweet water serpent (Hydra) - Al Dhanab al Shuja (γ) - is the 'sister' of Spica at the other side of this band. Below the Southern Cross is a tiny dot which represents the south pole star Dramasa (*320). To the right is the Scorpion. |
