London Rei Miro 6847 (J, RR
20) This is one of the few rei miro which were made with glyphs incised on them, according to the information given to Routledge from Jotefa Mahe Renga (Fischer). Picture (Barthel):
Only one glyph is written on it (two if you use the system of Fischer). The kind of wood is probably Sophora toromiro. It is believed that this rei miro was brought to Europe very early by a whaler's captain, perhaps sometime during the intensive period of whaling between 1820-1840. |
