171 is an odd number and there must be a central glyph:

Gb2-27 (283) Gb3-5 Gb3-25 Gb4-2 Gb4-23 Gb8-11 (453)
171 = 9 * 19

283 + 172 / 2 = 369, just around the corner from Hanga Te Pau:

Gb5-5 Gb5-6 (360) Gb5-7 Gb5-8 Gb5-9 Gb5-10 Gb5-11 Gb5-12
Gb5-13 Gb5-14 Gb5-15 Gb5-16 Gb5-17 Gb5-18 Gb5-19 Gb5-20

Gb3-25 and Gb4-2 are the central vai glyphs:

Gb3-25 (316) Gb3-26 Gb3-27 Gb3-28 Gb3-29 Gb3-30
Gb4-1 Gb4-2 (323) Gb4-3 Gb4-4 Gb4-5

The vai glyph type indeed seems to indicate the time when sun is absent.

The glyphs do not agree, though, with the suggested solution. Vero in Gb8-12 cannot signify the beginning of anything, it is a sign of the opposite, a 'dark cloth' sign. Instead, the exceptional tagata 4 glyphs later must refer to how sun has reached his full growth:

Gb8-11 Gb8-12 Gb8-13 Gb8-14 Gb8-15 Gb8-16

The head is replaced by a pair of reversed kai  signs - eating has stopped and it is a solstice. 8 * 15 = 120 and the ordinal number counted from Gb2-27 is 175 = 7 * 25.

If we count to 300 beginning with Gb8-16, we have 15 glyps at the end of side b. Together with 229 on side a it becomes 244 (= 4 * 61). There are 26 glyphs in line b1 and 244 + 26 = 270. It means glyph number 300 will be Gb2-30:

Gb2-27 Gb2-28 Gb2-29 Gb2-30 (300) Gb2-31 Gb2-32 Gb2-33

Tagata in Gb2-30 is looking back with a bent neck, it is over. Ordinal number in the glyph line (30) is in harmony with ordinal number counted from Gb8-16 (300).

The similarities connect Gb8-15 with Gb2-30:

Ure comes before the last glyph, presumably indicating that the end is used to generate next season:

Gb8-14 Gb8-15 Gb2-29 Gb2-30

The pair at the end of the cycle have no mouths, but their necks are straight, while the pair at the end of the first part of the cycle are 'wilting' with open mouths. The end of the first part of the cycle is indicated by 2 * 30 = 60, the end of the full cycle with 8 * 15 = 120.

The vai glyphs also indicate opposite situations. In Gb8-11 the sign says 'empty', while in Gb2-27 is says 'full':

Gb8-11 Gb2-27

Two descending fishes above a perfectly drawn circle are to be contrasted with one rising fish located on the same level as a very poorly drawn oval form:

Gb8-16 Gb2-32 Gb2-33

I ought to add a page showing these facts:

... In many ways the glyphs surrounding Gb8-15 and Gb2-30 show that they belong together, which is amplified in this page.

Ure signs come before the last glyphs, presumably indicating that the end is used to generate next phase:

Gb8-14 Gb8-15 Gb2-29 Gb2-30

The pair at the end of the full cycle have no mouths, but their necks are straight, while the pair at the end of the first part of the cycle are 'wilting' with open mouths. The end of the first part of the cycle is indicated by 2 * 30 = 60, and the end of the full cycle with 8 * 15 = 120.

The vai glyphs also indicate opposite situations. In Gb8-11 the uplifted empty hand sign says 'empty', while in Gb2-27 hipu at bottom left says 'full':

Gb8-11 Gb2-27

Two descending fishes above a perfectly drawn circle are to be contrasted with one rising fish located on the same level as a poorly drawn oval form:

Gb8-16 Gb2-32 Gb2-33
