Once again. The Paris Snuff Box seems to have three calendar cycles, one with 42 glyphs, one with 24 glyphs, and one with 18 glyphs:
The first of these (I) is structured with 180 days of spring:
I have here changed Yb3-1--3 to become the first 30 days of spring instead of being 'leap days'. We should notice that also Yb3-6 has a little dot at bottom right, probably to indicate that the first of spring sun's '3 feathers' is complete. There is no henua (earth illuminated by spring sun) yet. The 'rat' is preparing, though, because in Yb3-5 his arm is beginning to form into the shape. Maybe this Sun character is the old year, because there are two 'rats' here. Then there are 24 further glyphs which presumably account for 240 / 2 = 120 days, because 180 + 120 = 300. In autumn sun is weaker and it could take two days for him to compensate for his weakness:
During those 180 days of spring Mars is absent. His time comes later, when spring sun has left. 3 times 60 = 180 accounts for spring sun, 2 * 60 = 120 for autumn. 3 dots were found at 60, 120, and 180. In autumn I can see the following 'dotted' glyphs:
I have coloured the 'bold face' dots separately. Mercury and Sun has each one 'bold' dot, Moon has two. Less prominent dots appear with Mercury and Moon, each with one such dot. In addition Jupiter has 3 such. There is a system. Moon supports spring sun during 180 days. Then there are 6 glyphs with dots during the following 120 days. The strange Mercury glyph in Yb1-1 may have its location chosen in order to allude to long text tablets, where side b should begin with the back side of the year. 220 as the day number says so too. The boldfaced dot is the only one which is inside. 290 for Sun at Yb2-5 (where 2 * 5 = 10) evidently refers to the 10th and last month for him. The front bottom crescent sign has changed into a kind of separate being. We can see that in autumn Jupiter carries on with the role which Moon had during spring. Neither Saturn nor Venus are supporters of the Sun. They have a separate business together, first comes Venus with her 'flame' (12 glyphs * 5 = 60 days), and then Saturn's dark 40 nights will carry on until the end of the 280 days from the beginning. 180 (Sun) + 60 (Venus) = 240 days, a quarter of 60-day periods. Then the 5th 60-day period, which is in the dark, is ruled by Saturn and containing the creation of next year. Mercury stands at the very end of the cycle. |
