Next two pages (and at last we are back again on the main road after having spent an immense amount of time and effort trying to 'prove' that the reversed vaha kai in *Yc1-3 means birth):
A sense of order dictates the numbers and the structures. 24 is one of the basic numbers: "To come back to the key words of ancient cosmology: if the words 'flat earth' do not correspond in any way to the fancies of the flat-earth fanatics who still infest the fringes of our society and who in the guise of a few preacher-friars made life miserable for Columbus, so the name of 'true earth' (or of 'the inhabited world') did not in any way denote our physical geoid for the archaics. It applies to the band of the zodiac, two dozen degrees right and left of the ecliptice, to the tracks of the 'true inhabitants' of this world, namely, the planets." (Hamlet's Mill) 42 = 21 + 21 according to calendar I, and we can imagine 21 steps for Sun descending in the Underworld followed by another 21 steps going up again. A single measure 24 is stated by calendar II, referring to how Sun then emerges into the world of living again and moves 12 steps up followed by 12 steps down. Or maybe 12 steps up and then a sudden disappearance down to the other pole, there to once again move upwards in 24 (or rather 12) steps. In our view Sun will be born and then gradually advance twice 12 = 24 steps up to midsummer. He should never decline, always move upwards. That is his character. Therefore he must disappear from our view at the end of high summer. From the tropic of Cancer there are 24 'steps' to the tropic of Capricorn. If Moon then takes over she must move 24 descending steps if she will be able to give birth to a new Sun baby at the correct point after half a year:
But Moon cannot advance more than 120 days in one direction, then comes her 2nd phase moving in the other direction:
Her waning phase could correspond to the blanket, the black cloth. These 120 days can be added to twice 210 for the Sun down in the Underworld. 120 + 210 + 210 = 540 = 20 * 27 (where 27 = 3 * 3 * 3). 210 is 120 reversed, and the strange number 210 is thereby explained. 210 = 7 * 30, not 5 * 30 = 150. The number of daylight is 5, the number of nightlighs is 7. 10 days + 14 nights = 24.
It takes 33 weeks to reach the back side of the G text, 7 * 33 = 231 = 210 + 120. 42 + 24 = 66 is another expression for the whole cycle of the Sun. 66 is the Sun equivalent of the Moon 120 + 210 = 330, because twice 330 = 660 = 11 * 30 or the measure for a whole cycle which includes the newborn next one ('one more'). 18 (daylight), according to calendar III, fits well together with 42 (nightlights): 18 + 42 = 60. If it is combined with 24 (also daylight) it becomes equal to 42, balancing the nightlights of calendar I. 42 + 24 + 18 = 84 = 7 * 12. Time is measured by the Moon. Twice 21 + twice 24 = 42 + 48 = 90. If we multiply with 4 to reach 360, it means 4 * 42 + 4 * 48 = 168 + 192. 18 * 4 = 72, and 168 + 72 = 240. According to Wikipedia the mythical Mount Meru is said to be 84,000 Yojanas high. Intriguingly 84 is the sum of 42 + 24 + 18. |
