The structure of the C text has 392 glyphs on side a and 348 on side b, not 348 on side a and 392 on side b. I made a curious mistake. One more time:

Ca1-1 Ca1-2 Ca1-3 Ca1-4 Ca1-5 Ca1-6 Ca1-7
7

From an obscure beginning there comes a recycling determined by Venus and Saturn. Sun is still not visible (puo) and the separation of sky from earth has yet to come. The earth is not visible and the sky is dark. Then Mars indicates the 'fish' is rising again (with an inverted henua ora). A moon crescent upside down forms the silhouette of the sky dome which has been visible.

The 7 planets have initiated a new cycle. Their positions are here not in the ecliptic band but up close to the pole. Time begins at the pole, where friction generates a new fire. The 7 planets work together to establish the necessary movement.

North of the equator the 7 planets have their positions as the stars of Ursa Major:

"... Farther to the east, in India, the Bhagavata Purana tells us how the virtous prince Dhruva was appointed as Pole star.

'Just as oxen, fastened to a post fixed in the center of a threshing floor, leaving their own station, go round at shorter, middle or longer distances, similarly fixed on the inside and outside of the circle of time, stars and planets exist, supporting themselves on Dhruva; and propelled by the wind, they range in every direction till the end of a kalpa.'

The particular 'virtue' of the prince, which alarmed even the gods, is worth mentioning: he stood on one leg for more than a month, motionless. This is what was announced of him: 'The stars, and their figures, and also the planets shall turn around you.'

Accordingly, Dhruva ascends to the highest pole, 'to the exalted seat of Vishnu, round which the starry spheres forever wander, like the upright axle of the corn mill circled without end by the labouring oxen.'

The simile of the oxen driven around is not alien to the West. It has remained in our languages thanks to the Latin Septemtriones, the seven threshing oxen of Ursa Major: 'that we ar used to calling the Seven Oxen', according to Cicero's translation of Aratus.

On a more familiar level there is a remark by Trimalchio in Petronius (Satyricon 39): 'Thus the orb of heaven turns around like a millstone, and ever does something bad'. It was not a foreign idea to the ancients that the mills of the gods grind slowly, and that the result is usually pain." (Hamlet's Mill)

Although Easter Island lies south of the equator and there is a distinct possibility that they saw the positions of the 7 planets at winter solstice somewhere close to the south celestial pole, the basic image surely must have been there. The planets should occupy positions close to the pole in order to accomplish the movement from winter solstice. Planets are stars which move.

The ordinal numbers growing by counting should therefore also begin with the planets. Growth is generated by light and to count you need insight.

The god with one leg personifies the pole (star). Possibly we should consider the vae and haati glyph types with this in mind:

vae haati

In Mamari, however, there is no sign of vae or haati at the beginning of side a (nor at the beginning of side b). Possibly it implies the fire must be generated at the end of the old cycle. It would be absurd to describe the events which are unfolding by force of a new light without this new light being already in place.

Therefore the 7 planets from Ca1-1 to Ca1-7 were moving already earlier. The novelty is that they personify numbers, and counting cannot begin until the light has become strong enough.

236 days beyond Mars at Ca1-7 a new darkness falls:

236
Ca1-1 Ca1-2 Ca1-3 Ca1-4 Ca1-5 Ca1-6 Ca1-7 Ca9-16 (244)
7 237

The moon calendar has just ended (with Ca9-2 as its 72nd glyph), and in Ca9-4 we can read hua reva:

Ca9-1 Ca9-2 Ca9-3 Ca9-4 (232) Ca9-5 Ca9-6 Ca9-7
Ca9-8 (236) Ca9-9 Ca9-10 Ca9-11 Ca9-12 Ca9-13 Ca9-14
Ca9-15 Ca9-16
Ca9-17 Ca9-18 Ca9-19 Ca9-20
Ca9-21 Ca9-22 Ca9-23 Ca9-24 Ca9-25 Ca9-26 Ca9-27

Counting from Ca1-1 we will have number 244 at Jupiter in Ca9-16, where 9 * 16 = 144 = 12 * 12. Counting from Ca1-8 we will have number 236 at Mercury in Ca9-15 and the new 'dark cloth' season will be beginning with Ca9-16. The hole and double mata say it is a pivotal point (around which pole the rest is rotating).

The preceding Mars moa has a hole where his eye should have been. His eye serves as the door hinge.

... in the house of 'the Russian' he is kept in the door hinge (in the English translation this and other details ar blurred to insignificance), and dishwater is emptied upon him. To be damned to play door hinge is one of the hellish punishments in Egypt, because the hinge is supposed to turn in the victim's eye ...

The hole has in Ca9-17 shifted its position from high up (as the eye of moa) to low down. Another eye has been turned upside down:

236
Ca1-6 (Moon) Ca9-15 (Mercury)

Hua reva in glyph position 232 can be explained as 63 + 232 = 295 days from winter solstice. If we count to 300, we will arrive at ordinal number 300 - 63 = 237, the koti glyph. If we ignore the first 7 glyphs (Ca1-1--7), then the number at koti will be 230 and the number at hua reva will be 225. Comparing with G:

Ga8-16 Ga8-17 Ga8-18 Ga8-19 Ga8-20
Ga8-21 (225) Ga8-22 Ga8-23 Ga8-24 Ga8-25
Ga8-26 (230) Gb1-1 Gb1-2 Gb1-3 Gb1-4

We can rely on counting glyphs from Ca1-1. We need not bother about subtracting Ca1-1--7.

Around the pole of time there is symmetry. The moon calendar with 72 glyphs is ending with Jupiter in Ca9-2 and then follows a tagata and hua reva:

Ca9-1 (229) Ca9-2
Ca9-3 Ca9-4 Ca9-5 Ca9-6 Ca9-7 Ca9-8 (236) Ca9-9
Ca9-10 Ca9-11 Ca9-12 (240) Ca9-13 Ca9-14
There are 12 glyphs from Ca9-3 up to and including Ca9-14 and 12 glyphs from Ca9-17 up to and including Ca10-1.

12 + 2 + 12 = 26

Ca9-15 Ca9-16 (244)
Ca9-17 Ca9-18 Ca9-19 Ca9-20
Ca9-21 Ca9-22 Ca9-23 Ca9-24
Ca9-25 Ca9-26 Ca9-27 Ca10-1 (256)

Balancing the 72 glyphs of the moon calendar there are 68 glyphs from Ca10-2 up to and including Ca12-8:

324 - 256 = 68
Ca10-1 (256) Ca10-2 Ca10-3
Ca12-1 Ca12-2 Ca12-3 Ca12-4 (320)
Ca12-5 Ca12-6 Ca12-7 Ca12-8 (324)

72 + 68 = 140 and if we add the central 26 we will have 166.

The kara etahi glyphs are located among the 68 which follow beyond the hua deluge (cfr Ca10-3). The reversed kara etahi in Ca12-4 has position 63 + 320 = 383 = ½ a day less than 13 * 29.5.
