The page 'here':
26 could be 20 + 6 (sun). Then, as a concession to the moon another 4 may have been added. 30 = 20 + 10 = 20 + (6 + 4), where 6 + 4 is 2 * 3 + 2 * 2 = 2 * 5. Spring is 3 * 59 = 177 days and autumn is 2 * 59 = 118 days. Each 'flame' of the sun will be 59 days, and then a dark day completes the cycle to be 60. There are 3 flames in spring, equal to the numer of (female) fingers on the hand. One such finger (flame) measures 59 nights. The thumb comes next, and it is a different thing. It is a single one (a male) and it is not a flame out in the open, it is a flame inside. It should be counted as 2 in order to enable drawing the path of the sun. In Ca2-12 the twofold nature of this type of 'limb' is indicated:
(3 + 2) * 60 = 300 is equal to 180 (spring sun) + 120 (autumn moon). Ca2-11 is a glyph which divides 177 into 36 and 140 (with Ca2-11 occupying an intermediate position not to be counted in either direction):
Therefore, spring sun will be reduced from 180 to 140, from 9 * 20 to 7 * 20. This explains why spring also is measured as 7 (not only 3). And this reduction makes free 36 days which can be added to those 64 at the end of side a. The beginning of a month is not when the new moon becomes visible, the beginning is 'inside' - not visible. Likewise the beginning of spring sun must be 'inside'. It seems to be measured as 100 dark days. 100 + 140 = 240, which added to 120 becomes 360. 100 + 1 (Ca2-11) + 140 = 241 (at Ca7-9), a number which ought to be changed - maybe into 240:
In the 3rd period Mercury 'inhabits' the first position, and Jupiter indicates how waxing now is in the past. A reversed great marama indicates where Venus is - in a waning phase. In Ca7-11 Saturn is positioned, a moe sign shows he now will be in command. He is pregnant with atumn (125 days). Sun in Ca7-12 has the bottom triangular sign (not because we are at winter solstice but because spring sun abruptly has ended after 140 days of hard work). 100 + 140 = 240 at Ca7-8 (Mercury), where he is measuring the sun. 8 * 30 = 240 = 4 * 60, and the first 60 should be where sun is not yet present:
The first 60 days when sun is 'not present' are located, it seems, at the end of the 392-day long cycle:
Moon at Ca12-20 draws the line for the sun. 12 * 20 = 240. The 8 glyphs beyond Ca12-12, ending with Moon at 336 (where 3 * 36 = 108 should be compared with 3 * 33 = 99 at Venus), seem to describe 8 dark days. Vai in Ca12-14 has no longer the path of the sun around the oval but only a string. 392 - 8 (those dark days above) = 384 = 2 * 192. 64 = 8 + 56, and 100 = 8 + 56 + 36 = 8 + 92. |
