We have now reached at least some understanding of the 'fire'-oriented tagata (r)ere glyphs:

in the dark
Saturn (†) Sun (*)
ignites the fire  is covered up
Ca2-11 Ca12-12 (328)
290 = 10 * 29

The bulging stomach does not (primarily) means pregnancy, it is rather referring to how the hot stones are covered up by earth in the oven (umu), used for cooking (tao).

A wordplay with tau seems involved, because that term was (is still?) used in Samoa to designate a period of 6 months. When Sun goes to his winter maid far up in the north, 'disappears' for 6 months, it resembles cooking (tau) in the earth, Sun is no longer high up in the sky. The hungry have to wait.

Furthermore, Tauono means Six Stones and refers to the Pleiades. Likewise, Tautoru is the Belt of Orion. The stars are 'fires' in the sky and they are also 'stones'. The 'fire' which Saturn is igniting presumably is located at Tautoru.

If we add 3 quarters to 6 hours, where Orion is, we will reach 24 hours (which happens to be equal to 12 + 12). There is no rectascension 24h, instead this is zero hour (0h), and it is where the square of Pegasus and Pisces are located - it is spring equinox north of the equator.

From zero to 1h no time can be counted, it is a time when you are 'in the dark' (as to what time it is). In a more general sense this is also a dark time, mythologically speaking, because 'land' has been submerged by the 'sea' (both being in the sky).

The great Sun to the right in Ca12-12 is in front and therefore could refer to summer ahead. I think spring equinox this time could mean spring equinox also on Easter Island, not autumn equinox. But they had to watch the stars at another time in the nights to keep the familiar constellations in their right places during the year. 'Longitude' must be reserved, but 'latitude' must be reversed.

The constellation Orion is basically a 'square' formed by the 'corner stones' Betelguese, Bellatrix, Rigel, and Saiph. The 3 stars which form the Belt of Orion are in the center of this 'square'. In Mayan thought there should be a fire in the center of such a field.

3 stones is the minimum number for arranging a fire with a pot on top for cooking. For once fire will then be below water. This miracle was an immense step ahead for mankind. By cooking the intake of food enabled also the oldest members of society to take part, although their teeth were missing.

Saturn is the old god at the center of the square earth. He tends the hearth. The Chinese has his colour as yellow which has been explained as due to the colour of the earth in China:

I suggest a better explanation is that yellow is the colour of fire.

South of the equator Saturn is also connected with water ('dripping water') and with the mouth:

... On Hawaii both Saturn and Venus were named Naholoholo, and horo means to wash down, to swallow etc. In Sweden we have an old name for December 24, 'dopparedagen' which means the day of dipping. There are two days connected with entering (or being swallowed by) water, viz. June 24 and December 24 ...

Therefore Saturn is connected with cooking.

The Square of Pegasus has no fire in its center. It lies 3 quarters away from the fire in the square of Orion. Pisces are below the Square of Pegasus. These Fishes indicate that the Square of Pegasus has the sea below. But nowadays the Square of Pegasus is at spring equinox (north of the equator), no longer in winter (where the celestial sea is).

Therefore the arrival of the new fire - which surely must be connected with spring equinox in mythology - must mean that the Square of Pegasus is no field of earth but possibly a square type of vessel, a raft. A deluge explains why there is water everywhere instead of earth.

It is a dark time with fire absent - cooking cannot be done and people are starving. But soon land will rise again, and the inundation of Earth will be over. The raft will come ashore.

In the rongorongo texts the change from 'land' to 'sea' is the reverse of what happens at the same time of the year north of the equator. At midsummer Sun will go down into the water, but north of the equator he will return, be reborn.

The spring henua sign refers to the time when the celestial 'fire' (Sun) is shining on the fields, but at 'midnight' another type of henua is used, probably to indicate the absence of 'fire':

The spring type of henua can be read as either a vertical pillar raising the sky roof high or as a rectangular field on earth bathing in the rays from spring Sun. The 'midnight henua' can be read as either the same sort of pillars in a horizontal position (because the sky roof is low) or as the rectangular outline of a raft constructed from them.

The Chinese had Mercury as water and black. The connection between Mercury and Saturn should - I think - be due to how they both are located at solstices. If Saturn represents earth north of the equator he must be water south of the equator.

With Mercury as the 1st pillar of autumn, he must be close to summer solstice. If the deluge comes just beyond summer solstice, then Mercury will be down in the water.

Mercury will be at the beginning of water and Saturn at the end of water.

Mercury seems to be responsible for the deluge and Saturn for the return of land.

Both Mercury and Saturn are connected with hirs (though of two different kinds).

Mercury is connected with salt because the sea is salty, then Saturn must be connected with the opposite, viz. sweetness.

Both Mercury and Saturn are represented with orifices (ear respectively mouth). The ear is formed like a whirlpool and the mouth swallows (a swallow is a sign of the arrival of summer).

Finally, the animal of Mercury is the pig while Saturn has the ox. The ox could refer to Taurus, which anciently inaugurated summer. The pig comes somewhat later, because the Mayas seems to have had peccaries (Gemini) instead.

With Saturn at the turtle of Orion it must be referring to circumstances around 6,000 years ago, somewhat less than a quarter of the cycle of precession (ca 26,000 years), because land emerging from the deluge at Orion (spring equinox north of the equator) must have occurred such a long time ago:
