84 nights, or 3 * 28 moon months, between one year and the next possibly explains why there are 3 glyphs beyond the death of old sun in Tahua:
13 + 14 + 15 = 42 could be a sign for the moon. 169 + 196 + 225 = 29.5 * 20. Beyond Pax there are, I think, 8 * 8 = 64 nights left of the 364 night long moon year:
64 is the perfectly perfect number (being 8 * 8), and 260 we recognize from the rongorongo texts. Adding 260 and 64 we reach 324 = 4 * 9 * 9, which amounts to an ominous number for the 'earth'. 3 + 2 + 4 is also 9. Moon is connected with growth too, not only the sun. 64 is the 7th term in the series 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 ... Although moon is visible during 28 (or 280) nights, there are the dark 1.5 * 10 = 15 (as in Aa1-15) nights which ascertain the birth of a new year. If these 15 nights are thought to occur during Pax, there will be 5 nights left at the end of Pax. If they are thought to occur at the end of Pop, there will be 5 dark nights at the beginning of Pop. What months come after Pax? The 17th month is Kayab, the 18th Cumhu, and then follows the 5-day short 19th month Vayeb:
65 = 5 * 13 and 85 = 5 * 17, numbers of ill omen for the 'fire' (5). Probably the last night of Vayeb is the dark night beyond 364. If there is the same kind of structure in Tahua, we maybe can put Aa1-15 in parallel:
The old year ends (vae) and beyond a little (dark) gap follows new year. If this thought is correct, then there will be 26 days for each glyph, beginning with Aa1-1, and Aa1-15 will be the last dark night of the old year: 14 * 26 + 1 = 365. While the Maya had 18 * 20 + 5 = 365. 12 * 26 = 13 * 24, and Aa1-12 will then correspond to Pax. Aa1-1--8 (the growing sun season) will be 8 * 26 = 208 = 13 * 16, similar to number 16 for Pax and number 16 for the measure of growing moon. |
