Converting 20 day names to 13 'Rain God' residences was a task which was partly accomplished by condensing 3 day names into the last (13th) residence. 20 - 2 = 18. Where did the remaining 5 day names go? Checking again it becomes obvious that the matter is not so clear-cut:
Comparing with the 20 day names, and inserting residences:
The sky part looks good, while the earth part is acceptable only at its beginning. The Aztec 2 Calli (house) is better for the 5th residence, I think, because the shape of the 'down in earth' says 'house'. In which case the Mayan 2 Akbal (night) also could be there, because it is dark inside a house. The Akbal glyph in the 7th residence denies such a relocation, though:
Neither is the Aztec lizard comparable to the Mayan corn:
And the serpent is not located anywhere. Possibly he represents the undulating water lily stem. The lizard is a good climber, often up in the roof of the house. Therefore he must be located at midsummer (4th residence). We remember that 'when Tuu Ko Ihu came out and sat on the stone underneath which he had buried the skull, Ure Honu shot into the house like a lizard ... Only one residence would then remain 'unoccupied', viz. the 3rd:
I think it is significant that it is exactly the residence which is a possible henua parallel which cannot be paired with any of the red-marked day names. Its character is like Lamat, the rabbit, very fruitful (i.e. female), I believe. There is only one zodiacal sign which is female, Virgo.
All 12 red-marked days have been used up (which is OK because the 'Rain God' is the sun). Only 1 blue-marked day has been used, viz. the rabbit. Which makes me wonder from where Playboy got its 'squirrel'. bun1 ... kind of cake (in England usu. small, round, and sweet) ... bun2 ... (now U.S.) squirrel XVI; (dial.) rabbit XIX ... |
