I believe that the right part of Hb5-31 is the same sign as the right part of
Aa1-74, although one of them is 'upside down':
While thinking about Barthel's glyph no. 380 I toyed with the idea that the
sitting person didn't carry any meaning at all, that all meaning was attatched
to the right part. It could be that the left part was just like the pole of a
traffic sign. No use in scrutinizing the pole, it was that thing
on top which needed attention.
But nowadays I have no such ideas, instead every detail carries meaning. I
believe. Different 'poles' implies different meanings.
Each glyph seems to be overburdened with signs, no free space at all. It is more
like the modern highway type of traffic signs, one sign on top of another like a
totem pole. You cannot see the pole for all the signs and speeding by in your
car you need to be receptive and quick of mind.
