If we compare this glyph with the one that follows
it is evident that the left 'foot' of the latter bird shows 'light' (three toes being equivalent to three fingers, cfr Maui and Mahuika, whereas the preceding bird does not show his toes. Instead it looks as if his toes has been transformed into the end of a henua. Does this mean that a period of po ends there? In the next glyphs the 'splendid bird' is back in shape again, spreading 'light'. Sunny characters are always reborn, notice the form of his head. The strange 'hair-lock' in the po-bird is perhaps bent (haga) to show the coming change.
