This glyph precedes sun in 1c, is it a 'qualifier'? We can compare 1c with 3c, 4c and 6c:

1c 3c 4c 6c

The two in the middle are similar, the two at the ends also. In 1c and 6c the assumed 'qualifiers' precede the sun, in 3c and 4c they arrive after the sun.

The very curved beaks in 1c and 6c could be signs of haga, i.e. time for turning around. Matariki has just appeared, respectively is just about to disappear from the sky on the other side of the world.

The 'legs' in 3c and 4c are like inverted Y:s, marking a time of darkness: Matariki i raro for us.

The general outline of these 'tired old birds' are circular, just as the general outline of the 'fresh new chicken' we have seen in different incarnations in b. We found 4 such 'bacabs' in b, here we can also see 4 'bacabs', if we interpret them as such. Both the 'tired old birds' and 'fresh new chicken' have the solar (feline) heads. 'Old birds' have beaks but not young 'chicken', because they are 'cats'.

There is no sun in 2b, there is no tired old bird in 2c. There is no tired old bird and the sun is standing still in 5c, there is an aberrant glyph in 5b:
