Perhaps this glyph, with a 'hole' and a hand up waiting to receive, should be interpreted as a sign of waiting for the 'ball of the sun', indicated by the glyph just before:
A running man (atariki?) holding up the 'ball of the sun', ready for 'hole in one'. There are many myths around the world about this theme. And in Tahiti there is mauga pu, a mountain with a hole in it. Strange indeed that it so happens that Tahiti is 'sitting' under the star Sirius, the dog-star, cfr the dog of Yudhishtira. We should also recall the ageing Odysseus returning home to be greeted by his old dog and then winning the contest for Penelope by - though sitting down - shooting an arrow through the openings of 12 axe-heads, afterwards killing off her suitors. I wonder if not the graphic symbol, O in Odysseus and P in Penelope, are parallels to the two glyphs above. Hardly a coincidence, I conclude after much thinking. We literate people are 'analphabetics' when it comes to reading signs. Also we have stories about aquiring new fire, the 'seating of the new year', in Sweden e.g. at 13th of December with Lucia, a tradition with 'cousins' probably everywhere in ancient times. And at New Year we have fireworks, shooting 'fiery arrows' straight into zenith, which detonate and frighten cats and dogs away into hiding.
