Ideas:

1. It seems evident that this figure is holding an object in the form of the moon. Perhaps the glyph should be read as 'a period of the moon', as this moon calendar clearly is divided into 8 periods.

There is an obvious pattern with five glyphs introducing each such period and a varying number of glyphs following thereafter.

2. The eggformed body perhaps is indicating birth. A new period is born and the baby chicken is crying out. If so, it is a very different start of a period compared to what we have seen in the seven periods of the week. This is no ruler but a gift from Mother Nature.
