Very interesting is this picture of a bowl (Wilkinson):
These two 'sun'-fishes are swimming counterclock-wise (like the sun as seen from a place south of the equator - the watery world down below) in a circle in the bowl. I am quite certain these fishes represent half-years. The stem of the lotusflowers (which also are symbolizing the sun) has a mark in the middle, a sign for 'center' or 'navel'. Presumably this sign is the same as in this glyph (Pb9-33):
Though the meaning of this sign in the glyph may be somewhat different, a waterly hole like a door to the underworld. I think this glyph is located at a solstice. |
