OTHER SEVENS In China (Lindqvist) there was a structure of thinking where similar concepts were grouped together in coordination with certain numbers. Most important was number five:
The concepts in each column above were 'corresponding' to each other, e.g. was earth connected with the middle, Saturn, mouth, sweet, Panicum, ox and yellow. I believe this kind of pattern of thought to be very strong and that traces can be found all over the world, e.g. in Saturn (= time) devouring his children (i.e. they are thrown into his mouth). Local adjustments will be found, though. For instance was the colour yellow for the element earth a local preference in China because their agricultural soil was indeed of this colour. Seven is reached from five by adding Sun and Moon in the planet row. Are there correspondences to Sun and Moon in the other rows too? Or are Sun and Moon different in this respect? I believe so. |
