2. We will now discuss the first glyph in the line. Its 'elbow ornament' connects it with the 'bird' in Eb7-15, where we can see a smaller version of the ornament at left:

Eb7-1 Eb7-2 Eb7-3 Eb7-4 Eb7-5 Eb7-6 Eb7-7 Eb7-8
Eb7-9 Eb7-10 Eb7-11 Eb7-12 Eb7-13 Eb7-14 Eb7-15 Eb7-16

Not only do we have hipu in Eb7-2 connecting with toa in Eb7-8, but we have also Rogo (as I will call it) in Eb7-1 connecting with manu rere in Eb7-15. It is just to be expected if these 16 glyphs are to form some kind of overview of a 'year'. Time can be counted in different ways. We could for instance imagine the 7-glyph long distance (Eb7-2--8) as the first half of the year and the 15-glyph long distance (Eb7-1--15) as the whole year.

Rogo in Eb7-1 and manu rere in Eb7-15 are both carrying additional signs. We can compare with my standard glyph types:

Eb7-1 Rogo
Eb7-15 manu rere

This is necessary in order to distinguish Signs from signs, to see what has been added in order to draw the reader's attention.
