As we can see my proposal was probably not far off the mark, because we could read the text nakshatra wise and in Roman times. At Ga3-6, with a raised fist and the night sky (ragi) illuminated in front but not at the back, should have been day 364 + 1 ('December 31). And at Ga3-2 should have been day 360 + 1 ('December 27).

But Rei in Ga2-27 could have been intended to be read as MAY 17 (136 + 1). With 227 (π) = 364 - 137 (MAY 17) the reader's thoughts should fly ahead to day 137 + 227 = 364 (DECEMBER 30) at glyph number 57 (= 137 - 80) + 227 = 284 (= 364 - 80), viz. to Gb2-29 (probably alluding to 229 = the number of glyphs on side a of the tablet):

However, I could not understand why the number of glyphs in my perceived calendar did not agree with the number of days in any conceivable type of Sun year. I had measured out 13 days for each of 29 sections, amounting to 13 * 29 = 377 days. And then there were 2 extra sections which would have added 13 * 2 = 26 more days. 377 + 26 = 403 = 31 * 13.

Glyph 403 counted from Ga1-1 is Gb6-21, but counting from the preceding 'zero' position 403 would be at the tantalizing Gb6-20.

Gb6-20 Gb6-21 (403) Gb6-22 Gb6-23 Gb6-24 (177)

Or, we can now see - there could in number 403 have been a pointer at JANUARY 1 (Gb2-31).

The number of glyphs counted from Rei in Ga2-27 (π) to Ga7-10 (the 31st and last of its kind) was neither 403 nor 365:

121
Ga2-27 (57) Ga7-10 (179)
123

Yet, I was convinced these 123 glyphs described a cycle of the year.

I am now prepared to give a possible explanation for why this calendar year was so 'compressed'. 471 - 123 = 348 = 12 * 29. This is the number of glyphs on side b of the Mamari tablet. And 1, 2, 3 is the beginning of counting - the essential origin of everything else, the 'birth' of order.

... From One comes Two, and from Two comes Three. From Three everything else will then be generated ...

In Cancer was the birth of a new year. The 'child' was delivered and his spirit reincarnated here ('in the freshwater pools on the upraised reef'). Every child is a small entity, which eventually will grow to full size. Therefor my perceived calendar year was not yet full size. 365 - 123 = 242 (equal to the number of glyphs on side b of the tablet).

This Mayan version is quite clear. The middle top shell of the 'earth turtle' (honu) is cracked, allowing growth. A turtle is a bivalve is a crab.

... Let us suppose that what happened in the case of Aries and Libra happened with six constellations out of the twelve: in other words, that the original zodiac consisted only of six constellations.

The upper list not only classifies in an unbroken manner the Fish-Man, the Goat-Fish, the Scorpion-Man, and Marduk of the Babyloniana, but we pick up all or nearly all of the ecliptic stars or constellations met with in early Egyptian mythology, Apis, The Tortoise¹, Min, Serk-t, Chnemu, as represented by appropriate symbols ...

¹I think I am right about the Tortoise, for I find the following passage in Jensen, p. 65, where he notes the absence of the Crab: ‘Ganz absehend davon, ob dasselbe für unsere Frage von Wichtigkeit werden wird oder nicht, muss ich daran erinnern, das unter den Emblemen, welche die sogenannten 'Deeds of Salè' häufig begleiten, verschiedene Male wie der Scorpion so die Schildkröte abgebildet gefunden wird’.

The 'heart' of Cancer was defined by the 4 stars η, θ, γ (Asellus Borealis), and δ (Asellus Australis) surrounding ε (Beehive) at the top of the shell.
